BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Do You Care For Another Kick-Ass Movie?

Mark Millar , whose comic books were the basis for this franchise is uncertain about the possibility of the third installment.. “With “ Kick-Ass ,” it was a no brainer. It was made for $28 million and made $100 million back and then made another $140 million on DVD. So for the money guys, it was a $28 million investment that made $240 million. That’s a slam dunk. You’re getting your sequel. The second one didn’t make as much. It cost a little less at around $24 million, made $61 million and made about $100 million again on DVD and TV rights. It was still profitable. It was by no means “ The Lone Ranger .” But does that mean we’ll make another one again? I don’t know. It’s definitely up in the air, and we’ll just have to see. Matthew is a guy who I trust to make that decision. If he decides he does want to do it, I know he’ll get it done well. And he’s got the movie rights, so it’s ultimately his decision. I speak to Matthew every day, and we haven’t discussed “Kick-Ass 3″ so who kn...

Kick-Ass 2 Review. How Does The Film Fare Against More Polished Superhero Flicks

Kick-Ass 2 Review By: MattInRC The wild Kick-Ass 2 delivers all the fun and gore of the first, even if it betrays some of its morals. Comic book movies have followed a parallel path with the Sci-Fi & Action genres ever since Bryan Singer's X-Men : due to the nature of the characters, it's perfectly acceptable to display implausible violence. Whether it's watching an entire city leveled or some fantastic move by a superhuman or mutant, we've been willing to play along. But when a comic book film proposes that it's better than that - and then proceeds to display the same sort of images - casual fans might have a hard time distinguishing between it and the litany of films which occupy Summer theaters. This is where Kick-Ass 2 finds itself, a totally enjoyable experience even if it's exactly opposite of what it wants to be. The world of real-life crime fighting has weighed heavily on our titular hero ( Aaron Taylor-Johnson ) and Hit Girl ( ...

Jim Carrey As Colonel Stars And Stripes

Jim Carrey made no bones about being a fan of the original Kick-Ass , so perhaps it came as no surprise back in September last year when everyone's favorite Pet Detective/Grinch/Liar (Liar) was cast in the film's sequel. What will come as a surprise, however, is how good he looks in camo gear in Kick-Ass 2's first official still. Boasting an ever-so-American hand-to-hand weapon on his belt and an equally patriotic pooch by his side, Colonel Stars And Stripes means business - and that business is vigilante justice. As the leader of Justice Forever, a team of ass-kicking Kick-Ass-a-likes, the former mobster oversees the good work of misfit superheroes Remembering Tommy, Night Bitch, Insect Man, and Battle Guy as they beat up the bad 'uns that stand in their way - including the now extra-terrifying Red Mist ( Christopher Mintz-Plasse ), now called reinvented as The Motherfucker. Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall Plot Details Kick-Ass is set to hit DVD and Blu-ray on August 3rd.  Mark Millar stopped by movieweb for a chat. While discussing the film, he told us in detail where Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall is headed. Spoiler Alert: Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall begins with Hit Girl living with her newly adoptive father, who used to be Big Daddy's ex-partner on the police force. She has retired her guns and is no longer killing people. Meanwhile, Red Mist has hired a Russian Assassin to murder Hit Girl, while also assembling a group of super villains on-line who decide to hunt Kick-Ass down in a storyline that is similar to the one seen in The Warriors, which climaxes with a huge rumble in Times Square, where costumed heroes battle costumed villains to the death. Here is our conversation: There has been a lot of talk about Kick-Ass 2 . What is happening with that? And where would you like to see it go? Mark Millar: I am writing the comic book right now...
