BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Warner Bros. Has Found "Undying Love"

Warner Bros. is diving into the deep pool of the vampire genre, picking up Undying Love , a comic book mini-series published by Image Comics. Stephen L’Heureux and Benderspink, run by Chris Bender and J.C. Spink, are producing. Created by Tomm Coker and Daniel Freedman, Love mixes up the traditional vampire lore with Chinese monster myths as well as the Hong Kong action genre. The story centers on an ex-soldier who falls for a girl that happens to be a vampire. The only way the two can be together is if the man takes on the vampire who created her, which also means fighting an army of monsters in the Hong Kong underworld. Coker and Freedman will write the script. Jake Weiner is exec producing while Ford Gilmore will co-produce. Benderspink, which recently renewed its deal at Warners sibling label New Line, is eyeing a fall start on the magician comedy Burt Wonderstone, which it is producing with Steve Carrell’s Carousel Prods. It recently set up the comic book adaptation

Todd McFarlane Talks About Possible New Spawn Film

We reported bay in November that Spawn creator Todd McFarlane was going to bring back an animated series to TV. But today  mydvdinsider  brings us news that the script for a new spawn movie is three quarters finished. Back in 1997 Todd McFarlane's Spawn was released into theaters. The movie starred Michael Jai White as Al Simmons/Spawn, John Leguizamo as Al's demonic guide and antagonist Clown/The Violator, Melinda Clarke as the assassin Jessica Priest, Nicol Williamson as Al's mentor Cogliostro, T heresa Randle as Al's widow Wanda Blake, D. B. Sweeney as Wanda's husband Terry Fitzgerald, Martin Sheen as Al's former government employer Jason Wynn, and voice actor Frank Welker as the voice of Malebolgia. We heard there might be another Spawn film in the works. The comic book series you launched in 1992 is still popular today. (Spawn #200 debuted in January.) But the 1997 movie was modestly received. Its star, Michael Jai White, thought the film w

Robert Kirkman’s Witch Doctor Preview At Wonder Con

Witch Doctor , the first original comic published by Robert Kirkman’s Image Comics’ SKYBOUND imprint, will debut 29 June 2011. A preview edition will be featured at this weekend’s WonderCon 2011 in San Francisco. Witch Doctor is a medical horror comic from Brandon Seifert and Lukas Ketner, a pair of Alaskans currently based in Portland, Oregon. The book is described as Sherlock Holmes meets Fringe, and features Dr. Vincent Morrow, “a physician who fights outbreaks of the supernatural, trying to find a vaccine for the apocalypse,” according to writer Brandon Seifert. “We were inspired to create Witch Doctor because it seemed like one of those ideas that was just lying there, waiting for someone to come along and do it justice,” said Seifert. “Vampires, zombies, werewolves — the best monsters are all diseases, so it only makes sense for a doctor to fight them… A Dr. Gregory House-type jerk doctor, diagnosing monsters instead of diseases? It seemed like something that needed to ex

Ron Howard Going To Tackle "The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft"

Ron Howard Going To Tackle "The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft" After releasing two films this year, Ron Howard is planning his next move, and this week he sounded most excited about directing a big-budget adaptation of "The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft ," based on the Image Comics series. "It very cleverly uses H.P. Lovecraft in a fictional way, but there's some loose biographical elements. But it certainly has the flavor and the tone of Lovecraft," Howard told me during an interview for an upcoming story on a different topic. "The character is a very young Lovecraft." It didn't sound like "Lovecraft" would be slipping into that category, and, just based on Howard's enthusiam, I'm guessing the comic-book adaptation will be the next movie set for the 55-year-old Oklahoma native. "You just never know," Howard said, "development is a minefield or a high-wire act or whatever you want to call i
