BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Rob Marshall To Direct #MaryPoppins Reboot

According to EW Disney is developing a new original live-action musical film featuring the beloved magical nanny, Mary Poppins . The studio is bringing back Into the Woods director Rob Marshall and producers John DeLuca and Marc Platt, who successfully shepherded Stephen Sondheim’s Broadway tuner to the big screen for Disney last year. The new Poppins film will take place in Depression-era London, some 20 years after Disney’s classic Mary Poppins, and will draw from existing Poppins tales in the rest of author P.L. Travers’ 1934-1988 children’s book series. The practically perfect 1964 screen adaptation starring Julie Andrews pulled its story primarily from the first installment in Travers’ eight-book series; the new project (which is decidedly not being developed as a sequel) will explore Mary’s further adventures with the Banks family and beyond as illustrated by Travers’ seven additional novels. With Marshall helming, songwriting duo Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspra

Blunt is set to star as Raylene Jackson, a stubborn but vulnerable and determined American woman with a chip on her shoulder who dreams of becoming a champion bull-rider. The Hollars producer Allyson Seeger will produce alongside Adulthood and Kidulthood producer George Isaac. Embankment Films will launch the project among buyers in advance of the Cannes market, with the team aiming to shoot in autumn 2015. Longi told ScreenDaily how he was inspired to write the script after a recent road-trip across America led him to the popular southern sport: “We were driving down from New York and ended up in Texas where by chance we stum

Into the Woods Review. Pretty Faithful Adaptation Of Sondheim's Beloved Play

Pretty faithful adaptation of Sondheim's beloved play With a child-molesting wolf, a baby-stealing witch and an adulterous wife, this fairy tale is definitely not your normal Disney fare. Into the Woods has long been a fan favorite on Broadway, but finding its way to the big screen hasn't been quick or easy by any means. While there are some changes to the original masterpiece, Into the Woods is a pretty faithful adaptation of Sondheim's beloved play that translates well to the big screen. I'll admit, outside of Disney movies, I'm not a musical-seeking kind of girl. In fact, I mostly avoid them at all costs. All that singing really gets on my nerves. On the stage, it’s a different thing, but mostly, the big-screen version can't capture the magic of a live performance, even with its fancy special effects. But knowing that this would be a mash-up of Grimm tales, which I love, and had a stellar cast, Into the Woods looked intriguing as a movie. Combining th

The Golden Globes Are Announced

Who got left out of this year's nominations? We have your guide after the jump! The Golden Globes are always a bit of a mixed bag - Johnny Depp for The Tourist! Angelina Jolie for The Tourist! - but this year things are mixed in a different way, with no clear leader dominating the field. No single film stands above the rest when it comes to nominations, although Boyhood picked up nods for Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress. Then again, Grand Budapest Hotel also did well, as did Into The Woods and Gone Girl. Notable by their absence are Unbroken, American Sniper and Interstellar, as is Peter Dinklage for his sterling work on Game Of Thrones. Also, no Sons Of Anarchy , or Orphan Black , or Outlander , or... well, the list goes on. Below are our key picks of nominees, but for the full list, including more TV and music-based nods, head over to the Golden Globes' official website, where all is revealed (IN BLOCK CAPITALS

December 2014 Movies on Our Radar

The final push in 2014 for Oscars nominations and our hard-earned dollars is upon us - welcome to our December On the Radar Preview! November 2014 was filled with tasty movie goodness, offering solid Oscar candidates with a collection of enjoyable animated fare. From Penguins of Madagascar to Big Hero 6 , November began and ended with some of the best the genre had to offer. Even the live-action sequel The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 delivered on many levels. The only stinker was the disappointing Dumb and Dumber To (but don't tell our writer Brandon Wolfe we said that). But now, it's on to December and the final push towards Oscar season, with Hollywood not sure if they'll beat 2013, but happily relieved that Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain America: The Winter Solider saved them from a potentially disastrous year. But unlike previous months - especially August and September - our worry this month lies in the sheer number of quality releases:
