X-Men Spinoff 'Gambit' Has A Release Date

THR is reporting 20th Century Fox has set a Feb. 14, 2019 release date for Gambit, the X-Men spinoff starring Channing Tatum . Fox's Deadpool opened to big numbers over Valentine's Day weekend in 2016. Gore Verbinski is directing the film, which will see Tatum star as the New Orleans-based mutant with the power to manipulate kinetic energy and whose weapons include a staff and a deck of playing cards. The film has been in development for some time, with Verbinski coming on board last week following departures of filmmakers Rupert Wyatt in October 2015 and Doug Liman in August 2016. Gambit has a script by Josh Zetumer and is produced by Tatum, Reid Carolin, Simon Kinberg, Lauren Shuler Donner. The Gambit release date comes as Fox has been expanding its X-Men properties on the big screen, with 2018 seeing the release of New Mutants (set to open April 13), Deadpool 2 (June 1) and X-Men: Dark Phoenix (Nov. 2). On Thursday, Fox also set dates for director Chris Sanders

Channing Tatum's Gambit Film Delayed

With so many superhero movies due in the next couple of years, it is inevitable that some release dates will change. Often this is to avoid clashes with rival studios, but occasionally it is simply because the films won't be finished in time. This now seems to be the case with the Channing Tatum -starring Gambit . The X-Men spinoff was originally scheduled for an October 7, 2016 release, which would make it the third of three X-Men movies that Fox were releasing next year. However, producer Simon Kinberg has confirmed that Gambit won't even start shooting until next spring, making a 2016 release impossible. In an interview with Collider, Kinberg discussed the search for a new director, who has since been identified as Edge of Tomorrow's Doug Liman . "We have a director in and I don’t know if I’m allowed to say who it is yet because his deal isn’t done, but it’s somebody we’re excited about, and somebody I adore, and hopefully we can make an announcement soon abou

#Gambit Dropped From It's Original Release Date

With thudding inevitability, Fox's release-date reshuffle has seen X-Men spin-off Gambit pulled from its original release date of October this year. A new slot for the Channing Tatum -fronted superhero vehicle hasn't yet been announced. This is not necessarily bad news for the film; in fact it's eminently sensible. With original director Rupert Wyatt departing the project last September, and his replacement Doug Liman only coming aboard in November, October 2016 was never looking realistic. It turns out that 11-month turnaround really was too tight. Gambit now has time to come together properly, and with Deadpool and X-Men: Apocalypse both out this year, we're hardly deprived of X-Men to tide us over. Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner remain producers on Gambit, which Tatum has been chasing for some years. Josh Zetumer wrote the screenplay, based on a treatment from comic book stalwart Chris Claremont. It's planned as a stand-alone film which, in Tatum’

Guess what happens when we say, "We have the final, final, final version of the list." Story by Matt Cummings Marvel shocked the world (again) this week with the announcement that Ant-Man was getting a sequel, and that the studio had added three more films to its release schedule. The changes ain't pretty, and there's some interesting suggestions embedded within. More Bad News For The Gambit Film. Rupert Wyatt Exists

THR is reporting Director Rupert Wyatt has fallen off Gambit , the Channing Tatum X-Men spinoff being made by Fox. Changing script caused the film's budget to be larger than expected, extending the shoot, and prompting the push. Another source said that the shooting schedule around Mardi Gras caused the reshuffling. Either way, it became a conflict for Wyatt, who had to exit. "I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project," said Wyatt in a statement. "I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film." The movie project is an important one for the studio, which is hoping that it launches onto the screen as an important character as Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, one of the lynchpins of the X-Men universe. Josh Zetumer penned the script for the film, based on a treatment by Gambit co-creator Chris Claremo

Lea Seydoux Offered Female Lead In #Gambit

According to THR Lea Seydoux has received an offer to star in Gambit , 20th Century Fox’s X-Men spinoff movie, opposite Channing Tatum . Rupert Wyatt, who directed Fox’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes , will direct the film. Josh Zetumer penned the script for the film, based on a treatment by Gambit co-creator Chris Claremont. Tatum, Reid Carolin, Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg are producing. Seydoux just has an offer at this point, so there's always the possibility that it won't make. But if it does, she'll play the head of the Assassin’s Guild, a woman named Bella. Gambit, centering on the card-throwing superhero who can manipulate kinetic energy, is slated for release Oct. 7, 2016. Seydoux is known for her work in Blue Is the Warmest Color, The Grand Budapest Hotel and Saint Laurent. Her upcoming projects include The Lobster, which premiered at Cannes, and the next James Bond film, Spectre. Please Leave A Comment-

Channing Tatum Possibly Walking Away from Gambit

Gambit may not pay off for actor. By Brandon Wolfe The Wrap has reported that Channing Tatum is planning to exit 20th Century Fox’s X-Men spin-off Gambit , which was scheduled to begin production this fall for a planned release on October 7, 2016 . No reason has been given for this sudden development, but a source claims that Tatum’s reps are still in discussions with the studio to try and rectify the situation. If Tatum does walk away from Gambit , it will be a major turnaround, as the film was something of a pet project for the actor, one he took to Comic Con earlier this month to promote. Director Rupert Wyatt will have precious little time to find a new leading man or risk the project falling apart. I guess they could always give Taylor Kitsch another spin, in the slim hopes that True Detective has taken some of the tarnish off his star. Discuss this story with fellow SJF fans on Facebook . All Superhero Movies to 2020

We have the final, final, final version of the list. Story by Matt Cummings With the sudden announcement of the Sony/Marvel Spider-man deal back in February , the entire Marvel calendar was upended, pushing titles back and others out of the way. We wrote about this back when the news broke , but it's clear that the situation hadn't exactly settled. The addition of 2016's Gambit hadn't yet been figured out, which caused yet another wave of bloggers to hit the UPDATE button on their old stories. But it doesn't end there. Other news - such as the lackluster performance of The Amazing Spider-man 2 which forced Sony to seek out a co-partner in Marvel in the first place - also changed Sony's plans regarding Drew Goddard's Sinister Six , effectively ending its development for the time being. Not one to be left out, the all-new DCCU (DC Cinematic Universe) is also vying for our hearts (and wallets), and with news on that front happening nearly ev

Some Actors Not Appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse?

Learn who said they and another actor might not be appearing. Story by Matt Cummings The return of the X-Men franchise in 2014 was flat-out one of the riskiest projects, but the time-traveling X-Men: Days of Future Past proved it could successfully blend time travel with two universes of actors into a fun and rewarding project. The film also reset certain unpopular storylines from X1-X3 which had alienated fans and put the franchise itself on shaky ground. One of the reasons for the success of DOFP was the return of Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier and Ian McKellen as Magneto. Both of whom were and still are popular in the movie universe, and perhaps Stewart is as best known for his iconic performance as he is for Star Trek: The Next Generation 's Captain Jean-Luc Picard. But while fans could breathe a sigh of relief at Stewart's return, DOFP set up a whole new series of questions about the next film, X-Men: Apocalypse . Aside from the appearance of
