Limited creaky story in the first, then a shocking and unnecessary death in the second, fans of the franchise have been scratching their heads for a solution ever since. Retaliation Director Jon M. Chu was originally set to return for G.I. Joe 3, but he dropped out to helm the Now You See Me sequel. Suffering from a re-write by Shooter penner Jonathon Lemkin, the project seemed stuck in development hell. But now, it seems the oft-maligned franchise is back on track: Deadline is reporting that D.J. Caruso ( Eagle Eye , Ditrubia ) is in talks with Paramount to lead the film to a 2016 release. Any deal would have to get off the ground soon to keep this date, as the studio is also hoping to release a slate of other films including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 and Star Trek 3 . Whet...
