According to actor Toby Kebbell , there was a very different Fantastic Four that never made it to movie screens. The film, in which Kebbell played a drastically re-imagined version of Victor von Doom, was reportedly plagued by massive script revisions, extensive reshoots and, by some accounts, sharp disagreements between director Josh Trank and the studio (Fox) -- which even led Trank to say on Twitter in a quickly deleted post, "A year ago I had a fantastic version of this...you'll probably never see it." Well, Kebbell apparently agrees. Of all the movies released this summer, we’re fairly certain the one no one is expecting to generate a sequel is 20th Century Fox’s latest attempt to bring the Fantastic Four to screens. But writer/producer Simon Kinberg is keeping the idea of a new film alive. “I’m really focused on the next one,” Kinberg tells MTV , while conceding that he wasn’t thrilled with the way the first one was received. “I was obviously disappointed. Learn what titles Fox brought to the CinemaCon table. Story by Matt Cummings CinemaCon has quickly become an event that highlights the top upcoming films, as well as upcoming projects. On Wednesday and Thursday, we saw news from both Paramount ( Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation/TGerminator: Genisys ), as well as Sony Pictures ( The Equalizer sequel). Not to be outdone, 20th Century Fox brought out its big guns, including a Matt Damon Science-Fiction drama. Titled The Martian , it follows Damon as a stranded astronaut who tries to survive on Mars following a crash. The Four are back and fun-time's over. By Brandon Wolfe The first teaser for the hotly unanticipated reboot of Fantastic Four has debuted. The tone at play here is dark and deadly serious, a stark contrast to the bright-colored and comical tone of the Tim Story film from a decade ago. While that is an understandable course-correction, given how loathed that film is, this tonal shift also runs counter to the playful tone of the comic itself, taking the Nolanesque “dark and gritty” approach that studios still seem to gravitate toward even as Marvel continually proves that audiences are OK with fun in their superhero adventures nowadays. At any rate, there’s not much to see here just yet, other than a declaration that this isn’t your slightly older brother’s Fantastic Four.
