Fall 2015 Television Preview: NBC

We conclude our Fall television preview series by focusing on NBC's offerings. Story by Sue Lukenbaugh NBC had a huge turn over. They canceled five new comedies - Marry Me , About a Boy , One Big Happy , A to Z and Bad Judge - and axed three dramas ( State of Affairs , Constantine and Allegiance . They added fourteen new series, including six comedies, seven dramas and one variety show, but only six will begin with the traditional September start. Best Time Ever – TUESDAYS 10|9c THIS FALL Plot: Five-time Emmy Award winner Neil Patrick Harris is coming to NBC on a new primetime variety series based on the U.K.'s hugely popular "Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway." The show will feature comedy sketches, musical numbers, mini game shows, hidden camera pranks on celebrities and appearances by A-list stars. My Verdict: This sounds like the variety show that I wanted to see from the Muppets, but it looks like a typical gameshow. It's a s

Fall 2015 Television Preview: The CW

We continue our look at the upcoming Fall television season by focusing on The CW's offerings. Story by Sue Lukenbaugh Like the other big networks, the CW cancelled a couple shows, and announced a few upcoming shows. Getting the ax was Heart Of Dixie and The Messengers . The CW expands their Superhero roster, can they just transition to being all superheroes all the time? Only one of their upcoming shows will show up during the fall, the other two will debut early 2016. Containment – Release Date TBD Plot: When a mysterious and deadly epidemic breaks out in Atlanta, a vast urban quarantine is quickly enforced, forcing those stuck on the inside to fight for their lives. Julie Plec, the creator of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals brings you Containment, coming soon to The CW. My Verdict: This is very different from anything else on the CW. As an outbreak show, it doesn't have much longevity in it, but I can see it being something like a pre-Walking Dead an

Fall 2015 Television Preview: CBS

We continue our look at the Fall television season by focusing on CBS's offerings. Story by Sue Lukenbaugh CBS let go of Battle Creek , The McCarthy's , The Mentalist , The Millers , Reckless , Stalker , Two and a Half Men , and Unforgettable . They also canceled CSI , but the long running show will get a send off in the form of a movie event. For the 2015 season, CBS has some good concepts for their shows this season, but either the execution is all wrong or the trailers are, with the exception of only one. There are a few stand outs though. Angel From Hell – THURSDAYS 930|830c THIS FALL Plot: Allison, a dermatologist, is organized and perfect, but her life is derailed when she meets brash, outspoken Amy, who claims to be her guardian angel in this irresistible comedy about an unlikely friendship. My Verdict: It's interesting, and even draws a few laughs. Allison's disbelief and Amy's craziness became tiresome in the long 5 minute preview. Ke

Story by Sue Lukenbaugh Just as the regular television season begins to wrap up, and summer approaches television networks release their schedules for the upcoming television season. This year is no different. After a huge slew of cancellations, many surprised pick-ups were made. The trailers have been released, and I've watched them all with varying levels of excitement. Here's a full list of what's coming, and what I'm excited for. ABC said goodbye to Cristela , Forever , Manhattan Love Story , Members Only , Resurrection , Revenge , Selfie , and The Taste . None of which were surprises. The Catch – Release Date TBD From Shondaland’s Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers, this thriller centers on the strong, successful Alice Martin (Mireille Enos). She’s a fraud investigator who’s about to be the victim of fraud by her fiancé. Between her cases, she is determined to find him befo
