BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

#Dunkirk To Screen @TIFF_NET

In honor of the 50th anniversary of IMAX Corporation, the Toronto International Film Festival will present an exclusive screening of Christopher Nolan’s widely acclaimed epic Dunkirk . On Sunday, September 10, Nolan will be in Toronto to present the film, which was shot almost entirely with IMAX® cameras. The screening, to be presented in IMAX® 70mm, will be introduced by Piers Handling, Director and CEO of TIFF, followed by a conversation between the director/writer/producer and Cameron Bailey, Artistic Director of TIFF. The free event will fittingly be held at the restored and soon to be re-opened Ontario Place Cinesphere, which has the distinction of being the world’s first permanent IMAX® theatre. “Nineteen years ago, Nolan premiered Following in the Discovery section of the Toronto International Film Festival. We stand in awe of all he has achieved since, and are proud to welcome him back to Toronto," said Cameron Bailey, Artistic Director of TIFF. "The Ontario Place ...

Annabelle: Creation Takes The Top Spot

While other cinematic universes have been stumbling, the films spun off from The Conjuring are humming along nicely, winning decent reviews and box office success. The latest addition is Annabelle: Creation , which offers more details on the history of the possessed doll. This latest horror opened to $35 million, according to studio estimates. It's another solid scare win for director David F. Sandberg, who made last year's Lights Out and, with more movies coming based on supernatural nasties from the first Conjuring and its sequel, the prospects seem bright. Annabelle's arrival meant Dunkirk was once again second place with $11.4 million, but that's no worry for the movie, which has been out for four weeks already. Christopher Nolan's latest has passed $153 million in the States alone. At third we find the second new arrival of the week, animated sequel The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature , which earned $8.9 million. The Dark Tower started to crumble quickly, ...

Movie Review: #Dunkirk

Dunkirk is a disappointing and distracting mess. Review by Matt Cummings This year's box office Summer of Shame has taught Hollywood many painful lessons: reboots and sequels might not bring home the bacon if its story and characters aren't appealing. And while the WWII escape movie Dunkirk fits into neither category, I am not sold at all on its lavishing by critics. It's clunky, employs cute Hollywood tricks rather than endearing us to its characters, and ultimately fails because it violates the most important rule of film. As the German war machine rolls over Europe in 1940, British and French soldiers have their backs to the English Channel in the town of Dunkirk. There, they wait for war ships, transports, and ambulatory vessels to rescue them. Unfortunately, German U Boats rule the oceans and exact a high price from the Allies, sinking vessels at will and creating a potential human catastrophy for the 400,000 soldiers who wait. Taken from several diff...
