2014 TV Winners and Losers

Read on for the ten best and worst television shows of 2014 2014 TV Winners and Losers by Brandon Wolfe 2014 was a surprisingly great year for television, with an unusually large crop of incredible new series debuting alongside a handful of rejuvenated returning favorites. But as with everything, you take the good with the bad, and there was still plenty of bad this year. Here are my picks for TV’s ten biggest winners and losers of 2014. Winners 1. Fargo (FX) The year’s biggest surprise. There was no reason to expect anything from Noah Hawley’s ten-episode interpretation of the Coen Brothers classic. It seemed like the most thankless of tasks; at its best, it could only wither in the shadow of the film. But the show’s best turned out to be much better than anyone could have guessed, matching the humor and tone of the film while staking out its own unique ground. It helped that it was impeccably cast. The very British Martin Freeman disappears completely into the skin (and...

TV Recap: DOCTOR WHO "IN THE FOREST OF THE NIGHT" By: Suepafly A little girl named Maebh stumbles across the TARDIS in the middle of a forest-covered Trafalgar Square. Maebh claims something's chasing her so the Doctor lets her in. The Doctor calls up Clara and learns that Maebh is one of hers and Danny's students that had all gone together to an overnight stay at the London National History Museum. The entire world has been covered by forests in just a few hours. Danny's not happy to learn that Clara's still in touch with The Doctor but together, they lead the students to meet The Doctor in Trafalgar Square. The Doctor thinks that the fabric of time needed to have been messed with for these trees to grow so quickly. Everyone boards the TARDIS and Danny looks through Maebh's notebooks. The Doctor is amazed to find pictures of an angry sun beaming down on trees. Clara tells The Doctor that Maebh, who is now missing again, has been put on medicati...

TV Recap: DOCTOR WHO "FLATLINE"

TV Recap: DOCTOR WHO "FLATLINE"  By: Suepafly The Doctor's preparing to drop Clara off at the time and place from where he picked her up but when they exit, they find the TARDIS is half its normal size and they're in Bristol. Clara heads off to take a look around while the Doctor stays to try to figure out what's gone wrong with the TARDIS. Clara learns that people have been disappearing, after which they turn up in a mural on a pedestrian tunnel. She calls the Doctor to tell him what has happened and upon returning to the Tardis, finds it even smaller than before. The Doctor can't fit through the small external doors so she tells him to pick up the TARDIS and find whatever is doing the dimensional leaching. He hands her the psychic paper, the sonic screwdriver, and an audio/visual earpiece so he can keep in contact with her. Clara poses as "Doctor Oswald" and befriends a local graffiti artist, Rigsy, who is on community service. The Doctor doe...
