Amanda Seyfried To Star In Gone

Another new project has been unveiled at the European Film Market in Berlin: Amanda Seyfried thriller Gone , from Summit Entertainment, Lakeshore Entertainment and Sidney Kimmel. Summit has scooped up domestic distribution to the project. Lakeshore and Nick Meyer's Sierra Pictures/Affinity will now begin selling the project to foreign buyers in Berlin. Buzzed-about Brazilian filmmaker Heitor Dhalia begins lensing Gone in April from a script by Allison Burnett. Hollywood has been wanting to get into business with Dhalia, who makes his English-language debut with Gone. The thriller revolves around a young woman named Jill (Seyfried) who returns home from her night shift to find her sister's bed empty. She's convinced the serial killer who kidnapped her two years before has come back to finish the job. But the police do not believe Jill, who knows time is running out. With no one to turn to, she sets off to find her sister and face her abductor once and for all. L

Channing Tatum To Play Addict In "What's Left of Us"

Channing Tatum To Play Addict In "What's Left of Us" The Dear John heartthrob and G.I. Joe action figure will star in What's Left of Us , based on Richie Farrell’s novel, which the author is adapting for the screen. Based on a true story, Tatum will play a heroin addict going through 7 excruciating days in detox. The project is one of 3 films that new London and Los Angeles-based producer and financier Berkeley Square Films has announced here. Meanwhile, BSF’s first $7M production, Black Pearl, will start filming in October. Star Wars star Mark Hamill, another board member, will direct based on his own Dark Horse graphic novel. Michael Uslan (The Dark Knight) is executive producing. Hamill tells me that Black Pearl will be a near-documentary look at what would happen if a vigilante dressed up as a superhero. “It’s about a guy addicted to adrenalin.” Please Leave A Comment- Source- Deadline

With it being Superbowl weekend and all the guys at home and the women nothing to do, they flocked to the movies this weekend. Sony-quarterbacked "Dear John" thwarted a drive by James Cameron's "Avatar" for an eighth No. 1 weekend, as the over-achieving romantic drama's wily counter-programming play scored an estimated $32.4 million in opening domestic boxoffice during Super Bowl weekend. "Avatar" posted a $23.6 million tally to grab second place on the frame, just days after receiving nine Oscar nominations. The sci-fi epic -- which this week became the top-grossing domestic release ever, after previously setting foreign and global records -- lifted its cumulative boxoffice to $630.1 million domestically and $2.21 billion worldwide.
