Toy Story 4 Has Found It's Director

Amid a torrent of announcements at today’s D23 animation panel, we learned that John Lasseter will not be directing 2019's Toy Story 4 , as previously thought, passing the reins to Josh Cooley instead. Following in the footsteps of Lee Unkrich , who took over from Lasseter on Toy Story 3 , Cooley will lead Buzz, Woody and the gang on their fourth outing, having come a long way from his days as a Pixar intern on the first Cars film, before stepping up to become a writer on inside Out . Taking to the stage, Cooley teed up a short teaser film of him wandering the Pixar offices and talking to many of the artists and designers involved in the film. As the film palyed out, we briefly glimpsed a new toy that looked a lot like a Hawaiian doll, called Lulu and early pre-vis of a toy chick. In other Pixar news, Lasseter announced an as-yet untitled new project to be directed by Monsters University’s Dan Scanlon. Set in a suburban fantasy world populated by elves, trolls and sprit...

Need For Speed Sequel On It's Way

While the critical reaction to last year’s Need For Speed might have made it seem as though any sequel idea would end up rusting in a disused garage, game producers Electronic Arts took a look at the $203 million worldwide box office and decided to try to gear up a sequel. The company is has several Chinese companies looking to help get a new movie made. According to Variety, the plan for this one is to play up those business connections and shoot much of the movie in China, with local actors taking big roles. There’s no word yet on whether any of the cast from last year’s first film – which included Aaron Paul, Imogen Poots and Michael Keaton – will return. And a bigger roadblock is locking down the rights to make the thing at all, since DreamWorks currently holds the option. But EA will almost certainly figure out some sort of deal, especially since the company aims to release more games based in the series. “We are excited to work with EA, one of the world’s most recognized cre...

Need For Speed Review. Wants Desperately To Outrace The Fast & Furious

Need For Speed Review By: MattInRc Need for Speed wants desperately to outrace The Fast and Furious . Here's why it places a distant last. With the tragic death of Actor Paul Walker in 2013, the Fast & The Furious franchise seems to be at a cross-roads. What better time to introduce a new series ready to take its place, featuring similarly fast cars that perform all the stunts without CGI assistance? Unfortunately, someone forgot to tell the creative team behind Need for Speed that quick whips don't make up for a junky plot and action that feels all too familiar.  When the street racer Tobey ( Aaron Paul ) is framed for murder by business associate Dino ( Dominic Cooper ), Tobey vows revenge in the only way he can: by traveling cross-country to challenge Dino in a secret race against other premium automobiles. But he'll need help from his friends Benny ( Scott Mescudi ), Finn ( Rami Malek ), and Joe (Ramon Rodriguez), as well as the beautiful Jul...
