BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Red Dawn Review. Has The War Been Lost?

Red Dawn  Review By: MattInRC Make sure to follow MattInRC on  Twitter  for all his reviews and other exciting news. Red Dawn is a remake that vacillates between gritty war feature and bubble-gum drama, doing neither particularly well. In the genre of war movies, there are generally two kinds that Hollywood produces: ones that display the heavy trauma associated with war; and the mindless, unrealistic action flick that insults our intelligence with its implausibility. Both have their detractors - who can watch Saving Private Ryan more than once per year without wanting to slash their wrists for displaying war in such a graphic manner? In the latter category, the action is so unbelievable - whether it be people surviving a massive explosion or somehow beating someone twice their size - that you never really feel for the characters when they experience difficulty, thus losing any buy-in and therefore interest. Wedged somewhere in-between these is Red Dawn, the remake of

Red Dawn To Battle North Koreans

China has become such an important market for U.S. entertainment companies that one studio has taken the extraordinary step of digitally altering a film to excise bad guys from the Communist nation lest the leadership in Beijing be offended. When MGM decided a few years ago to remake " Red Dawn ," a 1984 Cold War drama about a bunch of American farm kids repelling a Soviet invasion, the studio needed new villains, since the U.S.S.R. had collapsed in 1991. The producers substituted Chinese aggressors for the Soviets and filmed the movie in Michigan in 2009. But potential distributors are nervous about becoming associated with the finished film, concerned that doing so would harm their ability to do business with the rising Asian superpower, one of the fastest-growing and potentially most lucrative markets for American movies, not to mention other U.S. products. As a result, the filmmakers now are digitally erasing Chinese flags and military symbols from " Red Dawn

Red Dawn Remake May See The Light In 2011

Wolverines! With MGM’s restructuring plan complete after a $500 million line of credit from JPMorgan, there has been much news made about the studio’s move to get both The Hobbit and James Bond 23 into production quickly. What about the films MGM shelved during its bankruptcy? Movies like Red Dawn, The Cabin in the Woods and others. Not much has been said about those languishing projects, but word is spreading that MGM may put the Red Dawn remake out this year. The film was directed by Dan Bradley, who tried to have the studio sell the project to Fox so they could release it last year, but that never happened. The completed film has been sitting on a shelf unseen ever since. The story revolves around a ragtag team of high school students who fight to save their town against a Chinese invasion. The film is now gearing up for a potential 2011 release date, and it will now be going head-to-head with the similarly themed Tomorrow, When the War Began . Already a hit in Australia and

Call MGM) and " Disturbia " co-writer has come aboard to write the screenplay for a live-action feature adaptation of the R.L. Stine book series " Goosebumps " for Columbia. Scholastic publishes the hugely popular kids' horror books, which number in the dozens and have sold more than 300 million copies worldwide, second only to the "Harry Potter" series in total sales. Columbia picked up film rights to the series in May 2008 and is looking at a family-driven potential franchise. The property has spawned video games, TV shows, additional book series and straight-to-video films, but this would be the first big-screen treatment. Screenwriters Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander ("1408") previously worked on adapting the material. Please Leave a Comment- Source- THR
