Variety is reporting Elizabeth Banks is in negotiations to direct a reboot for Sony’s “ Charlie’s Angels ” franchise. Banks will also produce via her Universal-based Brownstone production company with her husband and producing partner Max Handelman. “ Charlie’s Angels ” launched in 1976 on ABC and lasted five seasons with Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith portraying private detectives working for a benefactor named Charlie. Cheryl Ladd replaced Fawcett, with Shelley Hack and Tanya Roberts joining in later years. Sony produced a 2000 movie with Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu , which grossed $264 million worldwide. The 2003 sequel “ Charlie’s Angles: Full Throttle ” grossed $259 million. Banks made her feature directorial debut with “ Pitch Perfect 2 ,” which grossed $285 million worldwide, in addition to starring and producing. It’s a remake just for a remake sake. RAMA has delivered another great review. It is possible for a movie musical to show that the actors seem to be having fun on the screen, but unfortunately that fun is not shared by the audiences watching them. ANNIE is one of those movies. It’s a remake just for a remake sake, just so that the studio can have something they can call a new version, with new level of riches, billionaire with a ‘B’, just so that they can have something that simply exists. I don’t know why, maybe it’s the vibe or the hyper energy, but everything about this new ANNIE manages to make musical fans like me hate musicals. It’s a hard knock life indeed for us. There’s nothing wrong with trying to update something using a diverse group of actors, I’m all for that, but if you have a weak script with a runtime that’s unnecessary long, and songs that push you away instead of inviting you in, you’ve got a disaster in your hand. The Other Woman Review By: John Meneghetti TV audiences have forgiven characters like Don Draper and Tony Soprano for their marital infidelities over the last several years – possibly awaiting their comeuppance but ultimately drinking in their charm. New relationship comedy The Other Woman doesn’t stand for such caddishness! After finding that they’ve all been sharing the same man, Carly ( Cameron Diaz ), Kate ( Leslie Mann ), and Amber ( Kate Upton ) embark on a mission to make the cheating scoundrel, Mark ( Nikolaj Coster-Waldau ), regret his philandering. This movie uses humor to paint the heartbreak that unfaithfulness can cause. But instead of portraying female characters who resort to clawing each other’s eyes and weaves out in competition, the three wronged women channel their anger into a wacky revenge scheme that terrorizes Mark in Connecticut, New York, and the Bahamas. The dialogue especially pops when Diaz and Mann lock into quick laugh-inducing exchanges. A

THE OTHER WOMAN Review By: Sue The Other Woman takes male bashing to a whole new level, okay for a Girls Night Out. From the director that made everyone sob like little girls with The Notebook , Nick Cassavetes , comes The Other Woman which is the exact opposite of that heartfelt love story. Instead of everlasting love comes a comedy of revenge and friendship, which starts out slow, and never really finds its feet as it stumbles along with slapstick gags and humorless dialogue. After years of dating all the wrong guys, Carly ( Cameron Diaz ) thinks she may have found a winner in Mark ( Nikolaj Coster-Waldau ), or at least one good enough to ditch the rest of her beaus and become a one man woman, but Mark proves to worse than the men before him. Following the first still and the first poster, here finally is the first trailer for Sex Tape , in all its red-band glory. Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel star as the hapless couple who find a night of intimacy, documented purely for their own amusement, has gone viral (in the internet sense). Shenanigans ensue, wrangled by Bad Teacher director Jake Kasdan. As red-band trailers go, it's on the mild side, with nothing more shocking than some semi-nudity and a couple of f-bombs. We knew the basic premise, but the main surprise is how Apple-centric the film has turned out to be, with much talk of iPads and The Cloud. At least it doesn't seem quite as in thrall to its sponsor as the Google-happy The Internship: we particularly laughed at Segel's assertion that The Cloud is something "no one fucking understands". Yesterday we got a look at the poster for the new, Will Smith and Jay-Z -spearheaded version of warbling orphan musical Annie, which was the herald for this first trailer. In what could be called a remix of the 1981 film, this Annie finds Beasts Of The Southern Wild’s breakout young star Quvenzhané Wallis as the titular moppet, this time a foster child in a home run by the mean Miss Hannigan ( Cameron Diaz ). The idea that her parents might be out there somewhere adds a little spice to the tale, even as the trailer appears to give most of the story’s turns away (for the three people who didn't already know what's coming). The updates continue beyond Annie’s situation and the modern-day setting, with Jamie Foxx as tough-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks in place of the original Daddy Warbucks, who meets our heroine and decides that being seen to help her would in turn boost his campaign. What he doesn’t count on is Annie slowly softening his heart.
