BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Fall 2015 Television Preview: CBS

We continue our look at the Fall television season by focusing on CBS's offerings. Story by Sue Lukenbaugh CBS let go of Battle Creek , The McCarthy's , The Mentalist , The Millers , Reckless , Stalker , Two and a Half Men , and Unforgettable . They also canceled CSI , but the long running show will get a send off in the form of a movie event. For the 2015 season, CBS has some good concepts for their shows this season, but either the execution is all wrong or the trailers are, with the exception of only one. There are a few stand outs though. Angel From Hell – THURSDAYS 930|830c THIS FALL Plot: Allison, a dermatologist, is organized and perfect, but her life is derailed when she meets brash, outspoken Amy, who claims to be her guardian angel in this irresistible comedy about an unlikely friendship. My Verdict: It's interesting, and even draws a few laughs. Allison's disbelief and Amy's craziness became tiresome in the long 5 minute preview. Ke

First Thoughts: 'Supergirl'

We weigh in on CBS' extended trailer. Story by Matt Cummings Ever since we first reported that CBS was developing a Supergirl series for their Fall lineup , our opinion (and that of most of the Internet) has been the same word - uneasiness. The idea wasn't bad and CBS' logic (at the time) seemed sound: bring the next baddest good guy they could find to the screen that wasn't named Superman. But in looking at the extended trailer below - which we announced yesterday - our concerns have moved far beyond uneasiness. See it for yourself, and see if your thoughts align with our own: From the beginning, it's clear that Producer Greg Berlanti ( Arrow , Flash ) is trying to capture the magic of Flash's memorable first season into a bottle he can replicate with any DC hero he desires. But the result looks cheap, melodramatic, and seems to return to many themes already echoed in other DC movies and television episodes. This isn't even the secon

Network Pilot Season Has Begun

The Big 5 deciding what they expect us to watch this fall. By Brandon Wolfe Pilot season has commenced as the networks have begun their first round of pickups. NBC has ordered the dramas The Player , Chicago Med , Blindspot and Heartbreaker to series. Also in contention are Warrior , Game of Silence , The Curse of the Fuentes Women and Love Is a Four Letter Word . The network is really pinning its rebirth hopes on drama rather than comedy, the genre upon which it built an empire in the ‘80s and ‘90s. The crop given the go-ahead today will join fellow dramas Shades of Blue , Emerald City and pointless reboot/event series Heroes: Reborn in the fall. On the comedy front, NBC has a number of prospects, including Superstore , Strange Calls , People Are Talking , a pointless small-screen reboot of Problem Child , How We Live and Cuckoo . Already ordered are Telenovela starring Eva Longoria and, yet one more pointless reboot, Coach . Fox will be adding its television adapt

Survey: Consumers Now Prefer Streaming vs Live TV

What do the survey's results mean for the future of television? Story by Matt Cummings Ours is a world driven by technology. From smart devices to web apps, technology has affected the way we live every minute of our lives. And according to a new survey, it's affecting the way people consume entertainment. According to The Deloitte Digital Democracy Survey , US consumers are now more willing to watch streaming entertainment than tune in to it via live TV. The ninth annual results were published by the consulting firm Deloitte, who sampled 2,076 US consumers from Nov. 3-19, 2014. Here is just some of the landmark data: Services such as Netflix, who now have subscribers in approximately 42% of American households, have overtaken live television as the most preferred way to watch programming. 2 Broke Girls S04E17 Recap: And The High Hookup

Instead they attempt to make s’mores while Han jumps into action to extinguish the fire. Over at The High Caroline relishes in her new position as Host and they catch Han peeking through the window watching them awkwardly. Joedth arrives and introduces Caroline to Nashit, the new young Irish waiter. John gets introduced to Nashit and approves of the new addition while Max not so subtly hits on the new hire. Later as Nashit begins to work in the restaurant he does a horrible job waiting on tables but the patron’s don’t seem to mind because of how good he looks. While taking so

David Ducovny Thinks Broadcast TV Needs Shorter Seasons

Here's why his recent comments are absolutely necessary in order for network television's survival. Story by Matt Cummings Network television - specifically CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, and The CW - are in a sort of renaissance. Fueled by some of the best programming we've seen since the "Must See" era of 1994-1995, shows are grittier and more realistic than ever before. Yet, some would claim the opposite, that the current formula for television is outdated and could lead to its death unless big changes are made. With pay television opting for shorter seasons (that is, between 10-13 episodes) with shows like the Amazon Original Bosch, broadcast television has been slow to catch up. Recent trends - such as the short run for Marvel's Agent Carter - suggest that someone is listening. But, has there been enough to change the entire industry? That subject has been on our minds lately, as we've discussed it several times on our podcast Inside the Buck

2 Broke Girls S04E15 Recap: And The Fat Cat

The girls get catty when their pet Nancy goes missing but finds them a potential business lead. Story by @ErikaAshley This week we find the Caroline at the diner covering for Max, whom shows up late to work when she tries to locate their missing cat, Nancy. Max is upset that Nancy has been missing for several days and fears this might just be the time she never makes it back to their dingy little apartment. Caroline reassures her that Nancy will be home in no time or that someone will call the number on her collar to report her found. Shortly after arriving back at the dinner Max gets a call on her cell from an anonymous caller. Alas Nancy has been found! The girls make it back to their place to meet the hero that located Max’s precious kitty. Caroline gives Max flack about being so worried about the missing cat but hardly flinching at their $10k loan debt and over 1,000 cupcake shirts that they can’t unload. Max assures her that she wakes up at night screaming because of th

2 Broke Girls S04E14 Recap: "And the Cupcake Captives"

This week Max and Caroline find themselves in a captivating cupcake conundrum. Story by @ErikaAshley As the season nears ending, “The Girls” Caroline Channing (Beth Behrs) and Max Black (Kat Dennings) enter into their day job at The Williamsburg Diner to find Han, Michael Moy, creating signature drinks that he’s named after each employee. The Girls poke fun at the idea while Han describes each drink and why they are named after the individual. Caroline and Max then retort with jabs at Han’s small stature and lack of sex life like usual. Next up while working in their cupcake shop next door to the diner Caroline sells out of promotional Max’s Homemade Cupcakes t-shirts to which Max fills her in on her most recent and largest order. Caroline chalks up her forgetfulness to planning and coordinator wedding details for their neighbor and friend Sophie’s bridal shower. Caroline jokingly pesters Max on her lack of support and assistance and Max insists she’s not into girly par
