Stephen Moyer Cast In X-Men TV Show

With Bryan Singer on as a producer and directing the pilot, the X-Men TV spin-off is busy tracking down its cast. The latest recruit for the potential show is True Blood veteran Stephen Moyer. Burn Notice creator Matt Nix is the show-running and writing force behind the pilot, which focuses on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive. Moyer will be the father, an ambitious lawyer called Reed who is trying to balance working for the District Attorney's office with his parental responsibilities. You've got to figure that needing to sherpherd his kids to a scrappy group of mutants won't help that balance. Already in the cast are Blair Redford , who will play Sam, the stubborn leader of the network, and Jamie Chung , who has taken the role of teleporting mutant Blink. Moyer was last seen on the small scre

Soundtrack Review: #XMenApocalypse

X-men: Apocalypse - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is superhero bombast at its best. Review by Matt Cummings Say what you want about the newest X-men film (our boy Rama loved it ), but in my mind it lacked a sense of danger from the menacing Apocalypse (played by Oscar Issac). Sure, there's a few very good scenes (including an excellent pair of cameos), and Director Bryan Singer has a good (but not strong) understanding of all the new mutants that he introduces. However, one would be shortsighted to attach the same negativity to Composer John Ottman's score, a bombastic and headstrong affair that will encourage you to follow this X-men baddie to the ends of the earth. Set in the 1980's, Professor Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) is slowly building his School For Gifted Youngsters, employing Beast (Nicholas Hoult) and Havok (Lucas Till) as teachers for a new and growing class of mutants. But deep under the wreckage of an ancient Egyptian pyramid, an inesca

X-Men: Apocalypse Teaser Poster

There have been sneak peeks and images of the various characters, but the trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse is on its way. Before that drops, however, here comes the Silver Surfer-like herald of the teaser poster. It’s a fairly basic image, showing the traditional metallic movie X looking like it’s under some serious heat, which is what our heroes will be feeling this time around thanks to Oscar Isaac’s titular threat, ready to cause trouble for James McAvoy’s Professor X, Michael Fassbender’s Magneto and the rest. The film’s story finds our heroes split across the globe: The Prof is still trying to help mutants blend in with the world, while Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) is on her own crusade to settle matters between humans and mutants in a more violent fashion. Magneto, meanwhile, is opting for a quieter life of love in Poland. At least, that is, until Apocalypse comes a-calling and recruits him… And the endlessly dangerous mutant is also taking on what has always been known in the

First Look At #XMenApocalypse

Though we’ve seen concept art and one or two behind the scenes images courtesy of director Bryan Singer, this year’s San Diego Comic-Con was the first chance to glimpse the big bad of X-Men: Apocalypse and some of the other characters as they’ll appear in the movie. Now, with Entertainment Weekly’s latest issue, there are some fresh images for all. See all the images after the Jump... Oscar Isaac playing Apocalypse, given that he’s pretty much hidden behind layers of make-up and prosthetics to play the ancient, powerful mutant. Clip From X-Men: Days of Future Past #RogueCut

X-Men fans have been eagerly anticipating the blu-ray release of X-Men: Days of Future Past Rogue Cut . This version of the blockbuster, out July 14, features the subplot involving Anna Paquin’s Rogue, a section that ultimately had to be cut from the film. Director Bryan Singer originally broke the news of the major change with EW back in late 2013. “Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous,” explained Singer. “It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in.” Fans will now get to see how Rogue originally fit into Days of Future Past. In this exclusive clip, Bobby (Shawn Ashmore) and Magneto (Ian McKellen) attempt to rescue Rogue, who’s being tested on by scientists inside Cerebro. Fans who purc

Quicksilver Returning For X-Men: Apocalypse

Scene stealer to take another run at audiences. By Brandon Wolfe For last summer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past , the biggest gripe in advance of the film’s release concerned Evan Peters’ Quicksilver . The character’s silver hair, shiny jacket and welder goggles looked goofy in stills, and that dumb Carl’s Jr. commercial didn’t help, either. Plus, the fact that Joss Whedon was also putting the character into Avengers: Age of Ultron with a less risible appearance seemed to instantly render Peters’ interpretation as the lesser Quicksilver straight out of the gate. Now fast-forward a year and the X-Men version of Quicksilver stole the show and had one of the best scenes in any movie last year with his slo-mo “Time in a Bottle” set piece, while the Avengers version died on the table and is already mostly forgotten. So it was a no-brainer for the character to return for next summer’s X-Men: Apocalypse , and director Bryan Singer confirmed in a set photo on Instagram today that the zi

The one item of note is Professor X's instrument panel, which looks more jutted out from the 1970's version. That one also featured a curved analog set up and this one appears with more hard edges. The X-Men: Days of Future Past Rogue Cut is coming to Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD July 14th. Anna Paquin’s iconic character X-Men character, Rogue, actually had scenes in “X-Men: Days Of Future Past”, but it got cut because it just didn’t fit into the big picture that was always meant to focus on Xavier (James McAvoy) Thankfully, 20th Century Fox wants to bring you these deleted scenes in the movie’s own extended version; these scenes will be added back to the film and re-released as the “Rogue Cut” which contains extra footage, not just Rogue scenes, but other sequences involving other characters as well. Psylocke made her first appearance in the comicbooks in 1976, but hasn’t had a large presence in the films. The mutant’s only movie appearance was in 2006’s “X-Men: The Last Stand,” where she served as one of the minor villains following Magneto and was played by Mei Melançon. Rose Byrne Returns For X-Men: Apocalypse

Last week, Bryan Singer announced that 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse will reintroduce Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Storm to the mutant superteam franchise. Now, EW can exclusively reveal that Apocalypse will feature the return trip for another franchise player: Rose Byrne ’s Moira MacTaggert, the CIA agent and Professor X love interest introduced in 2011’s First Class. “She’s a significant character in the movie,” says Apocalypse writer Simon Kinberg, returning to the franchise after Days of Future Past. “We ended First Class with Charles having wiped portions of her memory of her experience with the X-Men. They are, essentially, strangers to her when she meets them.” Apocalypse is set in the early ’80s, roughly 20 years after First Class, and Kinberg is mum about how she ties into the film. But expect to see further developments in her interaction with Professor Xavier. “It’s certainly a rich relationship that we started to dig into in First Class, and would like to mine more in this on

Some Actors Not Appearing in X-Men: Apocalypse?

Learn who said they and another actor might not be appearing. Story by Matt Cummings The return of the X-Men franchise in 2014 was flat-out one of the riskiest projects, but the time-traveling X-Men: Days of Future Past proved it could successfully blend time travel with two universes of actors into a fun and rewarding project. The film also reset certain unpopular storylines from X1-X3 which had alienated fans and put the franchise itself on shaky ground. One of the reasons for the success of DOFP was the return of Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier and Ian McKellen as Magneto. Both of whom were and still are popular in the movie universe, and perhaps Stewart is as best known for his iconic performance as he is for Star Trek: The Next Generation 's Captain Jean-Luc Picard. But while fans could breathe a sigh of relief at Stewart's return, DOFP set up a whole new series of questions about the next film, X-Men: Apocalypse . Aside from the appearance of

Oscar Isaac To Play Apocalypse In "X-Men: Apocalypse"

Oscar Isaac has closed a deal to play the titular comicbook villain in 20th Century Fox’s “ X-Men: Apocalypse .” Bryan Singer will direct the superhero pic with Simon Kinberg writing the script. Singer has described the upcoming X-Men film, which is expected to feature all cast members including Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and James McAvoy, as the most destructive movie in the franchise. “‘ Apocalypse ’ will have more of the mass destruction that ‘X-Men’ films, to date, have not relied upon,” he recently said. “There’s definitely now a character and a story that allow room for that kind of spectacle.” Singer also suggested that “Apocalypse,” set in the 1980s, could feature younger versions of familiar characters. Fox will release on May 27, 2016. The most recent “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” co-starring Hugh Jackman, has earned a monstrous $745 million worldwide at the box office. Singer had been meeting with actors for the past couple of weeks but sources say

New Faces To Show Up On X-Men: Apocalypse?

Read on to learn who's in the running for the X-Men follow-up to Days of Future Past . We saw – spoiler alert for those who didn’t – at the end of X-Men: Days Of Future Past that Famke Janssen ’s Jean Grey and James Marsden ’s Cyclops were restored to the timeline by Wolverine and co.’s actions in the past. But it appears that Bryan Singer is ready to exploit the 1980s setting of the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse to show younger versions of the characters, and the initial round of casting rumours has begun with the likes of Chloë Grace Moretz, Hailee Steinfeld, Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe and Timothee Chalamet in early consideration for the roles. According to The Wrap , these are all very basic feelers being put out by 20th Century Fox and the X-Men team, and nothing formal has been sorted yet. Given that we’re in the casting roulette stage of Apocalypse, the roles could be played by anyone and this is simply Singer and the rest drawing up possible lists. Elle Fanning ’s name
