Blade Runner's Sequel Is Titled Blade Runner 2049 & First BTS Image

We're now a year away from the much-anticipated (and much-puzzled over) sequel to Ridley Scott's 1982 classic Blade Runner . Many of the details are still under wraps, but at least it's no longer untitled: the film is called Blade Runner 2049 . Which makes sense, since the movie is apparently set several (the title makes it three, since the original takes place in 2019) decades after Scott's film. Harrison Ford is back as Rick Deckard, and the world he inhabits has just gotten worse, with environmental catastrophe plaguing humanity. Ryan Gosling, Jared Leto, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Carla Juri, Barkhad Abdi and Dave Bautista are also among the cast, with Sicario and Arrival's Denis Villeneuve calling the shots. Ryan Gosling Joining Blade Runner Sequel

Drive star will get behind the wheel of a Spinner. By Brandon Wolfe Big day for Harrison Ford. In addition to heading home with Chewie , he’ll next face down Ryan Gosling in the long (and I do mean long) delayed sequel to Blade Runner . Gosling is presently in negotiations to join the follow-up to the classic sci-fi film, which is set to be directed by Denis Villeneuve ( Prisoners ) and produced by original Blade Runner helmer Ridley Scott. No word yet on Gosling’s role (or Ford’s, for that matter; there’s still that pesky “replicant or human?” question lingering about), but filming is scheduled to begin in Summer 2016. The story will take place several decades after the events of the original film. “We are honored that Harrison is joining us on this journey with Denis Villeneuve who is a singular talent, as we experienced personally on Prisoners,” said Alcon co-founders and co-CEO’s Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove, “Hampton and Michael, with Ridley Scott, have cr...

Blade Runner Prequels & Sequels On It's Way

Alcon Entertainment, the company behind The Blind Side , is looking to bring the world of Blade Runner back to the big-screen. The 1982 cult classic, which was directed by Ridley Scott and starred Harrison Ford , was based on a Philip K. Dick novel titled Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep . The company is in final negotiations to acquire the secure film, television and ancillary franchise rights to produce prequels and sequels to the iconic 1982 science-fiction thriller. Alcon is getting the film rights from Bud Yorkin, who was an exec producer on the original 1982 movie. The story is set in a future where man has created clones called replicants who are used for dangerous work. When they rebel on a space colony, replicants are banned and hunted down. The movie centered on Rick Dekkard, a retired member of a police officer corps called blade runners who them hunt down on Earth. Dekkard is called back to duty one more time to track six clones who escape a colony and co...
