BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Avatar 2 To Begin Filming In The Fall

The Avatar sequel is set to begin in the fall, according to Sigourney Weaver . “We’re starting!” the actress excitedly told The Hollywood Reporter at a screening of The Assignment , held Monday night at New York City’s Whitby Hotel. “We’re starting training, and we’re starting — hmm, I probably can’t say anything. We will be actually shooting it by the fall.” James Cameron has previously noted that the scripts of all four Avatar films are completed, and stars Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana are also set to return alongside Weaver. But fans were disappointed to hear that the second film would not be ready for a 2018 release date. Though the sequel to the 2009 sci-fi blockbuster, which grossed $2.7 billion at the global box office, had not officially been dated, it was expected for Christmas 2018. Yet Weaver reassures that audiences’ patience will be rewarded in time. “I’m telling you, these scripts are so amazing, I’m not worried about [disappointing fans] at all,” she to...

James Cameron Announces Avatar 2 Delayed

Read on to learn how far the sequels have been pushed back. Story by David Clark It was announced today that the follow-up film to the wildly successful Avatar has been pushed out of 2016 and into 2017. James Cameron has big plans for the future of the Avatar franchise which was apparent when it was learned that Avatar would have not 1, but 3 sequels. The 3 upcoming films have still not received their finished titles. They are still known as Avatar 2 , Avatar 3 , and Avatar 4 . Cameron’s plan has always been to write and film all three movies at the same time and then release one film per year. However, due to the delay the first film will not appear until 2017. Currently assisting Cameron with the writing of the individual movies are a couple of well known names. Working on Avatar 2 are Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes). Josh Friedman (The Sarah Connor Chronicles) is working on Avatar 3. Shane Salerno (Savages) is also working with C...

Get Ready For 4 Avatar Films

Yesterday’s news that James Cameron has hired Black Dahlia screenwriter Josh Friedman to work on Avatar 2 with him was apparently just the tip of the iceberg lurking in Pandora’s oceans (assuming Pandora’s oceans have cold enough zones for icebergs, which remains to be seen). Regardless, Cameron has now made good on his statement of May last year about being the Avatar business, confirming he’ll make Avatar 2, 3 and 4 ready for release in a year apart from 2016 onwards. It appears that spending time in New Zealand working on the stories has allowed some of Peter Jackson’s Lord Of The Rings spirit to creep into Cameron's already workaholic brain. Now Cameron and 20th Century Fox have gone public with the announcement that, in addition to Friedman, Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes co-writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver and Savages scribe Shane Salerno will each take co-scribbling duties on the three new trips to Pandora. Salerno has form collaborating with Cameron, as he worke...

Avatar 2 & Avatar 3 Set For 2014 & 2015

Avatar 2 & Avatar 3 Got Their Release Dates It’s official: James Cameron is going back to Pandora not just for his next film, but also for his next two. Mr. Cameron, the filmmaker behind the 3-D blockbuster “Avatar,” joined 20th Century Fox in announcing that he would make “Avatar 2 ” and “ Avatar 3 ” as his next two movies, with the first of the sequels scheduled for release in December 2014 , and the second for December of the following year . That assures a lot of fantasy-filled Decembers, as Peter Jackson has already scheduled a pair of “ Hobbit ” films for Warner Brothers and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in that month in the years 2012 and 2013. “Avatar” was released on Dec. 18 of last year and became the highest-grossing film in history, with almost $2.8 billion in worldwide ticket sales. Mr. Cameron and the top Fox film executives, Jim Gianopulos and Tom Rothman, jointly said they aimed to begin production next year on the first sequel. The film is not yet officially titled, th...

Avatar 2 Announcement Coming Soon

Avatar 2 Announcement Coming Soon James Cameron was in South Korea, once again preaching about how 3D will replace 2D as the standard format for films, TV, laptops, online content. Actually, when I pitched this to 20th Century Fox four-and-a-half years ago, I said, ‘You know, we’re going to spend a lot of money and time and energy creating not only a process but the assets, the CG assets, we call them - all the models of every rock and tree and plant and creature and the muscle rigs for all the creatures and the facial rigging for the main characters and all that’… huge, millions and millions of dollars. So it really makes sense to think of it as the potential start of a franchise, if you will, or a saga that plays out over several acts, each movie being an act of that saga. I’m going to be focusing on the ocean on Pandora, which will be equally rich and diverse and crazy and imaginative, but it just won’t be a rain forest. I’m not saying we won’t see what we’ve already seen; we’ll ...
