BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Shazam! Wins The Box Office

In another win for the re-envisioned DC movie universe (albeit perhaps not on the level of Aquaman just yet), Shazam! arrived top of the Stateside box office charts. The light-hearted hero tale took in $53.4 million for the three-day weekend, according to studio estimates. Adding in the money from the previous weekend's preview screenings, the new Warner Bros./New Line release is at $56.7 million domestically, a healthy start for a film that cost less to make (around $100 million before marketing costs) than it's recent DC stablemate. Outside the US, the movie made $102 million, resulting in a worldwide total to date of $158.7 million. The biggest challenge ahead for the movie is how much it can in before a little film called Avengers: Endgame arrives to dominate. Also arriving (or should that be resurrecting?) in the charts was horror remake Pet Sematary , the Stephen King adaptation making $25 million for a solid second place start. Last week's champ, Dumbo , wa

Glass Rules The Holiday Weekend

For the long weekend, it was Glass that scored the top spot, earning $47 million across four days. Despite that apparent success, M. Night Shyamalan's long-awaited follow-up to Unbreakable and slightly less long (but no less anticipated) sequel to Split still emerged as something of a disappointment in terms of earnings, falling a hair below expectations. Still, with a $20 million budget and more than $95 million worldwide after a few days on release, it's hardly a flop. Glass Movie Review 'Found myself in love with the look, the feel, the characters all over again'- Glass pushed The Upside down to second place, where it made $18.3 million in the four days. Aquaman has now spent five weeks in the charts and it's still swimming strong, dropping to third on $12.5 million. Yet perhaps a bigger story than the arrival from Shyamalan's latest was the surprise success of an anime title. Dragon Ball Super: Broly was released on just 1,236 screens compare

First Look At The Justice League's Plane The Flying Fox

EW delivers our first look at The Flying Fox. The Batman is typically kind of a loner,” Ben Affleck says. “I guess you’d call him kind of inward, you know?” The man who debuted as Bruce Wayne in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice laughs at his own understatement. After all, for most of the Caped Crusader’s history — and especially since 2008’s zeitgeist-defining The Dark Knight — the character’s been a brooding, traumatized hero. defined by lone-wolf vigilantism. @FunkoDCLegion Review: January 2017

Legion's DC LEGACY box pushes the boundaries of Funko cool. Review by Matt Cummings With a November BATMAN VILLAINS that exposed Funko's long-term problem with all of their lines (that is, a serious amount of fatigue), January 2017's sub box is a startling lesson that perhaps the company has actually listened to fans, taken the heartbeat of the sub box genre, and arrived at a terrific solution. The Promise Before we begin, let's look at the deal again: promising a value of $50, the sub continues the tradition of Funko partnering each time to deliver an exclusive figure and t-shirt without the fluff or filter (their words). Joining at the VIGILANTE MEMBERSHIP, members receive 6 boxes every year, with the promise of an exclusive themed collectible gift on the one-year anniversary of your annual membership pf $150 p sh/h. You can also subscribe at the SIDEKICK LEVEL at $25 with $6.95 shipping. That's literally the same deal as Marvel Collector

Patrick Wilson Cast As "Ocean Master" In Upcoming Aquaman Film

Deadline is reporting Patrick Wilson has been set by Warner Bros and director James Wan to co-star in Aquaman . Jason Momoa plays the title character, and Wilson will play the fish whisperer’s supervillain half brother ORM , also known as Ocean Master , in the DC film that Warner Bros will release October 5, 2018. The character has some of the sibling-rivalry elements found in Loki. That is Thor’s half brother, who has figured as the heavy in numerous Marvel films, in the form of Tom Hiddleston. ORM is at least as disagreeable and more powerful: In the comics, Aquaman’s human half brother is a rival for the throne of Atlantis and wreaks havoc on the high seas and beneath them when he doesn’t get his way. Amber Heard is playing Mera, Queen of Atlantis. Wilson, who earlier this year starred in his second Conjuring film, opens Friday in The Hollow Point and plays the romantic rival to Michael Keaton’s Ray Kroc in the upcoming The Founder. Aquaman first was seen in a cameo in B

Aquaman To Land In The Fall Of 2018

Though it hadn't been formally announced, there was thought that the stand-alone Aquaman movie, to be directed by James Wan , would arrive for a summer slot in 2018. Now we know that it will actually land in October that year. Aquaman, of course, will dive into more detail about Jason Momoa 's sea-dwelling hero, who we glimpsed briefly in Batman V Superman and will meet properly in the first Justice League, which arrives on 17 November next year. Not much is known about the story for the solo hero film, but Amber Heard will be back to play fellow Atlantis occupant (and queen) Mera, following her own Justice League introduction. Willem Dafoe is likewise on to play Vulko, whose comic history is a complicated one, swinging between trusted adviser and friend to the title character and dangerous threat. #AmberHeard In Talks To Join The DC Universe

Amber Heard is in negotiations to join Warner Bros.’ DC Universe. If a deal is made, Heard will star opposite Jason Momoa as the female lead in Aquaman, several sources tell The Hollywood Reporter . She will make her appearance first in Justice League , the movie that introduces various characters and story threads to fully launch the cinematic universe based on the DC Entertainment characters. Warners had no comment. Heard will play Mera, the love interest of Aquaman and eventual queen of Atlantis. First appearing in 1963, the character’s powers include the ability to control and even solidify water. James Wan is attached to direct Aquaman, which is undergoing a dual-track development, meaning there are two separate scripts that are being worked on concurrently. David Leslie Johnson, who is Wan’s writer on The Conjuring 2, is working on one script, while the other one is being penned by Kurt Johnstad, who wrote 300 with Zack Snyder, who is directing Justice League, p

Why Marvel Might Not Need SDCC Anymore

How will today's confirmation affect the largest geek fest in the world? Story by Matt Cummings Even though the insanity that is San Diego Comic-Con makes enjoying the July event a real hassle, it's still clear that studios love the venue for its ability to release big stories to thousands of adoring fans. Together with social media, it's become the most effective (and cheapest) way to get your new television show or movie casting out there. But in recent years - particularly in 2014 - some studios began to re-think their strategies of waiting until the annual madness to build anticipation. Take Marvel Studios for example, the consistent darling of past conventions and the group particularly responsible for the way the current convention is covered and orchestrated. With their near lack of news last year for either 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy , 2016's Doctor Strange , or even this year's Ant-Man , it was clear that something was either amiss o

The REAL 'Batman vs Superman' Has REALLY Arrived

Warner Bros. releases the trailer less than a day after its leak. Story by Matt Cummings Thursday night was an interesting one for Warner Bros. Studios. The home of the DC Cinematic Universe, interest had been building for awhile with their plan to release an extended trailer for Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice on Monday April 20th. Seats had been reserved, Zack Snyder "swag" had been hinted at by the director, and fans were ready. That is, until a Portuguese version of the same trailer popped up online that same Thursday night . Although WB did its best to knock down sites that distributed the grainy cam-capture, it was clear they were fighting an uphill battle. But this is The Internet afterall, and no one will keep a trailer down. That's why Warner decided late Friday afternoon to release the trailer, featuring a much clearer cut: Snyder isn't letting the leak deter him. On Friday, he Tweeted this message out, giving fans some hope
