The space smuggler’s past will be explored. By Brandon Wolfe Phil Lord and Christopher Miller , those miracle workers behind The Lego Movie and the Jump Street films, will next go to work on a project that, unlike their previous feats, no one will initially dismiss as a bad, unworkable idea. The duo will direct a Star Wars anthology spin-off centering around none other than rakish space pirate Han Solo , iconically portrayed by Harrison Ford in the original Star Wars trilogy (and to be reprised in this December’s The Force Awakens ). Famed Empire Strikes Back writer Lawrence Kasdan (who also worked on the scripts for Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens ) will script the film along with his son, Jon Kasdan. The film, to be released May 25, 2018, will tell the tale of a young Solo in the years before he crossed paths with Luke Skywalker and the Rebel Alliance. THR is reporting that Lizzie and Wendy Molyneux , writers on animated comedy Bob's Burgers , have signed on to work on Sony's female-centric 21 Jump Street project. The sisters are the second writing team to board the project. Sony also has brought on Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs, who are working on Comedy Central’s buzzy Broad City. The studio liked a pitch from the Molyneux sisters, so it is moving forward with dual-track development, in which both writing teams are working on separate scripts for the comedy. The 21 Jump Street franchise, starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, has done strong business for Sony. The first two films have grossed more than $530 million worldwide. Sony also is planning a third installment in the Tatum-Hill franchise called 23 Jump Street, with Rodney Rothman writing the script. Sony is brewing two female-centric spinoffs of its previous films. First there was the all-female Ghostbusters reboot, which will open next summer, and now word has come down that the studio will also craft a girl-centric installment of its popular 21 Jump Street series. Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs, the writers of Comedy Central’s Broad City , have been hired to write a script, said to be in the same vein as the two existing Jump Street films. This project will be produced in addition to another original-recipe Jump Street sequel with Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill returning. That film is still a question mark, as the end-credits sequence of 22 Jump Street seemed to take a flamethrower to the very idea of doing yet another sequel. Channing Tatum , who is coming off the hit action comedy 21 Jump Street , is in negotiations to star in White House Down , Columbia’s action thriller being directed by Roland Emmerich . The project has a lot of heat at the studio, which in late March paid $3 million for the spec script by James Vanderbilt, who is producing along with Bradley Fischer, Laeta Kalogridis, Kloser and Larry Franco. Another reason for the heat: There is a competing project titled Olympus Has Fallen from Millennium with Gerard Butler attached to star and Antoine Fuqua attached to direct. Both deal with a Die Hard-style scenario of having the group of antagonists take over a building, in this case the White House, and having one man fight with limited resources against impossible odds and extraordinary obstacles.  21 JUMP STREET Movie Review By: RAMA So how did RAMA think this movie compared to the T.V. show? Make sure to follow him on Facebook and Twitter . I had my doubts about this, because I grew up watching the original series and so the idea for the movie version to go raunchy comedy instead of serious drama, was a bit off-putting at first.
