BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

13 Movies From 2013 Worth Another Look

We look back at 13 under-appreciated films from the previous year that are worth a second look. Having passed the halfway point of the 2014 movie season, we began to think back on the 2013 movie season and were amazed that many of our Top 30 films didn't exactly hit homeruns with audiences. Rather than blame ourselves for being so wrong, we've sought to bring these back into the consciousness by highlighting them below. Given time away from them, some titles can take on new life, far exceeding their lackluster box office results. Luckily, the home market is more vibrant than ever, and with services like Netflix always adding new content from 2013, it's easier than ever to catch these little gems. In that spirit, we present 13 movies from 2013 that deserve another look. To be clear: these are films which rank 40 or lower according to BoxOfficeMojo's 2013 box office results, and were released before the end of the year. They can also be films that were critic

2013 Big Movie Questions - Q3 Report

We Ask The Big Movie Questions & Seek Film Insight For The Third Half Of 2013 By: Matt Cummings With Quarter 3 in the books, we look back at some movie questions and make bold new predictions. After a terrible Quarter 1 and much improved Q2 , we move into an odd period: the Fall season starts the day after Labor Day, but continues through the first Friday in November. That's quite a haul in terms of studying box office numbers, but if we look at things from a quarterly perspective, things get a little clearer. As part of our ongoing series, we look back at several big movie questions we posed in January, and postulate on the Holiday/Oscar season that starts next month. In addition, we've re-posted links to our Quarter 1 and Q2 Report, in case you want to berate us. Enjoy. Did audiences stand in line to see Arnold and Stallone?  No - although we loved Escape Plan for its 80's action and twisty plot, audiences have largely stayed away. Weekend box o

2013 Big Movie Questions - Q2 Report

We ask the big movie questions and seek film insight for the second half of 2013. By: Matt Cummings As Quarter 2 comes to a close, we look back at some movie questions and make bold new predictions. The year has certainly been an interesting one for Hollywood: a terrible Quarter 1 gave rise to a much-improved Quarter 2. In January, we postulated several questions that are beginning to bear fruit. If you didn't read our Quarter 1 Report, we'll forgive you...this time. We've added those and updated our thoughts on Quarter 2. Enjoy. Did audiences stand in line to see Arnold and Stallone? No - If October 18th's The Tomb or The Plan (or whatever it's called now) also fails to attract success, it should be evidence that both heroes might need to hang it up. Did Q1 produce the same limited amount of quality films, just as it has since....forever? Luckily, NO. We got high-quality efforts than in the last three Winters COMBINED. Gangster Squad and

2013 Big Movie Questions

Five Big Movie Questions for 2013 By: Matt Cummings With the 2013 movie season already in full swing, we've been thinking about some early answers to several burning questions: Will audiences stand in line to see Arnold and Stallone?   It appears that the answer is NO.  Neither the awful  The Last Stand  nor the decent  Bullet to the Head   reached audiences, pulling in less money combined than the Estrogen Fest  Safe Haven .   That's a bad sign for the duo, who separately used to command the box office.  If their fall pair-up  The Tomb  also fails to attract success, it could be the last hurrah for these aging heroes who might not know when to hang it up.  Will Winter 2013 produce the same limited amount of quality films, just as it has since....forever?   Luckily, YES.  The season has already given us more high-quality efforts than in the last three Winters COMBINED.   Gangster Squad   and  Snitch   are top shelf ,  Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters   and  Beautif
