Fox Searchlight Pictures was founded in 1994 by executive Thomas Rothman to produce and distribute independent cinema and foreign films. Twenty-five years later, the studio has become one of the defining forces in indie film around the world. Simply put, the history of Seachlight tells a large portion of the history of indie film itself.
