Bowie Arizona To Celebrate RAMBO'S Hometown On RAMBO DAY On 9/18


Since its debut nearly four decades ago, the Rambo series starring Sylvester Stallone has become one of the most iconic action-movie franchises of all time. On Friday, September 20, 2019, Lionsgate brings the final chapter of the series RAMBO: LAST BLOOD to theaters nationwide.

In the new movie, Arizona gets a nod from Rambo referring to the city of Bowie as ‘home'.

Celebrating the local angle and the iconic character that has spanned nearly 40 years, the city of Bowie, Arizona will proclaim Wednesday, September 18 “RAMBO DAY”.

“As we work to increase Bowie’s economic footprint, this national exposure as John Rambo’s hometown is priceless to us,” says Nancy-Jean Welker of the Bowie Chamber of Commerce. “We are deeply grateful for and proud of this distinction!”

Lionsgate shares that “After nearly 40 years, the Rambo franchise continues on and it is an honor to have the city of Bowie, Arizona embrace the iconic legend and proclaim Rambo Day.”

WHAT: Bowie, Arizona’s (population 653) Bowie Chamber of Commerce (Inc. 1964) proclaims Wednesday, September 18, 2019 as “RAMBO DAY”.

WHERE: The official proclamation will be displayed in the Bowie Post Office located at 118 E Loop I 10, Bowie, AZ for residents, tourists and fans of the Rambo franchise to see.

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy.
