Months after he was ousted from the Marvel Cinematic Universe over historic offensive joke tweets, James Gunn is back in as the director of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3. According to Deadline, the filmmaker is back at the helm after several meetings with Disney president Alan Horn, using the script that he handed in prior to his dismissal.
The director of The Suicide Squad, a sequel-reboot of DC’s anti-hero movie – it sounds like he’ll still be making that film first, before returning to Marvel to make Guardians Vol. 3. The next Guardians movie will fall into Phase 4 of the MCU, and will likely be set prior to the events of Infinity War and Endgame, just as Guardians Vol. 2 was set directly after the original.
Stay tuned for more updates soon on the situation soon – and in the meantime, crank those Awesome Mixes.
