“Deadpool 2” director, David Leitch who also gave us “John Wick” and “Atomic Blonde” will direct Universal’s “Fast & Furious” spinoff movie, “Hobbs and Shaw” focusing on Dwayne Johnson’s character Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s character, Deckard Shaw, both of whom had appeared in recent installments of this franchise.
This project was why Universal Pictures moved “Fast & Furious 9” to 2020.
The main writer of this franchise, Chris Morgan, returns again to pen the script for this spinoff which reportedly will be about Diplomatic Security Service agent, Luke Hobbs and former bad guy turned Hobbs’ friend, Deckard Shaw (Statham) as they go off on their own adventure. Details on that what that adventure is about or which villain they’re after, are not yet disclosed. Vanessa Kirby plays an agent and Shaw’s sister.
