BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Movie Review: #SnatchedMovie The Movie Will Make You Laugh out loud!

Laugh out loud!

Rama is back.

What’s awesome about the movie #Snatched is that it knows exactly you and I need at that given moment. Often times when watching a comedy movie, there’s a bit of a disconnect between what the characters on screen consider to be funny and whether or not we the audience think that that same thing is funny. But there’s no such problem here with “Snatched,” there’s vagina jokes, there’s racial jokes, there’s gender jokes, there’s sperm jokes. Its level of redonkulous is off the charts. One of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve had in theaters this year.

“Snatched” is about a dreamer named Emily Middleton (Amy Schumer) whose life is stuck, her boyfriend has left her, she just got fired from her job and none of her friends can go with her to this vacation that she’s been desperately needing so she can forget about her crappy life. She convinces her ultra cautious playing-it-safe mother, Linda (Goldie Hawn) into joining her. But during this travel, they get kidnapped which then leads them into a wild outrageous jungle adventure that neither of them signed up for.

This seems to be a good year for comedy, we had “How To Be a Latin Lover” earlier this spring which is equally funny and now we have “Snatched” for mother’s day weekend, how fitting. They both have that Happy Madison style of humor way back when Happy Madison movies could actually crack you up. Part of the formula is about presenting the kookiest characters possible. And when a situation has gotten silly, just take it up a notch and see where it goes because you’re already there anyway, so might as well just have a blast with it.

When you have incredible comedians like Amy Schumer, Ike Barinholtz, and Wanda Sykes, and incredible actors like Goldie Hawn and Chris Meloni who had juggled between comedy and drama before in the past and then you have both screenwriter Katie Dippold (“The Heat”) and director Jonathan Levine (“The Wackness,” “50/50”) who can master R-rated sensibilities, “Snatched” just feels like the right combination. And it’s just so nice to see the legendary Hawn back in a movie again after all these years. We the fans have missed seeing that bright blond hair and those big blue eyes and her screwball comedy skills. The film does a good job at presenting how her character and Amy Schumer’s character work their way through their differences as mother and daughter while at the same time not taking away from their their hilarity and the hilarity of everything that’s going on around them. “Snatched” is a comedy that’s consistent from start to finish.
