MARTIN SCORSESE’S “SILENCE” TO OPEN IN LIMITED RELEASE ON DECEMBER 23

PARAMOUNT PICTURES TO OPEN MARTIN SCORSESE’S “SILENCE” IN LIMITED RELEASE ON DECEMBER 23, WIDE IN JANUARY 2017

Paramount Pictures announced today that it, in association with Fabrica de Cine and Ai Films, will open Martin Scorsese’s highly anticipated film “SILENCE” in limited release on December 23, followed by a wide release in January 2017.

Scorsese, who worked closely with Fabrica de Cine’s Gaston Pavlovich on the making of the film, wrote the screenplay with Jay Cocks (“GANGS OF NEW YORK”), based on the book “Silence” by Shusaku Endo. The film is produced by Scorsese and Emma Tillinger Koskoff “(THE WOLF OF WALL STREET”), along with Randall Emmett (“LONE SURVIVOR”), Barbara Defina (“GOODFELLAS”), Vittorio Cecchi Gori (“IL POSTINO”), Irwin Winkler (“CREED”). Producer Gaston Pavlovich’s company Fabrica de Cine also provided the lead financing for the picture, alongside Executive Producer Dale A. Brown of Sharpsword Films.

“SILENCE” stars Andrew Garfield (“THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN”), Adam Driver (“STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS”), Liam Neeson (“TAKEN”), Tadanobu Asano (“THOR”), Issey Ogata (“THE SUN”), Ciaran Hinds (“BLEED FOR THIS”), Yosuke Kubozuka (“GO”), and Yoshi Oida (“THE PILLOW BOOK”).

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce.
