"She’s got... lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a doll's eyes.” That’s right, creepy toy Annabelle is back in a sequel to The Conjuring’s spinoff hit. On this evidence, Annabelle 2 will ruin the doll retailing industry for good.



Annabelle 2's plot is focused on the doll-maker who created the grinning fiend in the first place. Twenty years after their daughter died tragically, the craftsman and his scarred wife (Miranda Otto) welcome a nun and several girls from an orphanage that recently had to close. Unfortunately for the new arrivals, the possessed doll is none too pleased with the added house guests. Stephanie Sigman is playing Sister Charlotte, said nun.

This one is overseen David F. Sandberg, whose last film Lights Out was described by a magazine not too far from here as "a surprise contender for horror of the year”. Annabelle 2 gets its worldwide release on 19 May, 2017.

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack.
