Principal Photography Begins August 15
Villa Capri starring Academy Award®-winners Morgan Freeman (Now You See Me 2, Unforgiven, Lucy), Tommy Lee Jones (Jason Bourne, The Fugitive, JFK) and Rene Russo (The Intern, Thor franchise) will begin principal photography August 15 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Freeman, Lee and Russo will be joined by newly announced cast members Joe Pantoliano (Bad Boys, “Sense8,” “The Sopranos”), Glenne Headly (HBO’s “The Night Of,” Don Jon), Sheryl Lee Ralph (“Ray Donovan”), Elizabeth Ashley (“Treme”), comedian George Wallace (“Arli$$,” “Drunk History”), Graham Beckel (AMC’s “Halt and Catch Fire”), Mel Raido (The Disappointments Room, Legend) and Nick Peine (Office Christmas Party, Shameless).
Villa Capri is being directed by Academy Award® nominee Ron Shelton. The film is being financed by Entertainment One (eOne) and Endurance Media. Billy Gerber and Endurance’s Steve Richards are producing. Steve Barnett, John Mass and Alan Simpson are executive producers on the film. eOne will directly distribute the action comedy in Canada, the UK, Australia/New Zealand, Benelux and Spain. The movie will be distributed in the U.S. by Broad Green Pictures. Sierra/Affinity represents foreign sales for the remaining international territories as part of its sales and distribution alliance with eOne.
Villa Capri, is a two-hander action comedy, in the vein of Midnight Run, about an ex-military operative (Tommy Lee Jones) and a smooth-talking former lawyer (Morgan Freeman) who have to put aside their petty rivalry to defend their beloved resort community against an imposing threat. Meanwhile, the ladies of Villa Capri are fending off a threat of their own, as a young beautiful newcomer (Rene Russo) enters the picture and seems to be stealing all the attention.
Barry Peterson (Central Intelligence, 22 Jump Street) is director of photography, Guy Barnes (“The Messengers,” Good Kill) is production designer and Carol Oditz (The Break-Up, Take Me Home Tonight) is costume designer.
