BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

JESSE PERETZ TO DIRECT JULIET, NAKED

JESSE PERETZ ON BOARD TO DIRECT “JULIET, NAKED

Jesse Peretz (“Girls”, “Our Idiot Brother”) has come on board to direct the film “Juliet, Naked”, based on the best-selling novel by Nick Hornby (“About a Boy”, “High Fidelity”, “Brooklyn”).

Juliet, Naked is the story of Annie, the long-suffering girlfriend of Duncan, and her unlikely transatlantic romance with once revered, now faded, singer-songwriter, Tucker Crowe, who also happens to be the subject of Duncan’s musical obsession.

Los Angeles Media Fund (LAMF) is financing the picture. Judd Apatow (“Trainwreck”, “Knocked Up”), Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa (“Little Miss Sunshine”, “Nebraska”), Barry Mendel (“Bridesmaids”, “The Royal Tenenbaums”), and Jeffrey Soros are producing. Simon Horsman is an executive producer.

The script was written by Tamara Jenkins (“The Savages”, “Slums of Beverly Hills”) and Jim Taylor (“Sideways”, “About Schmidt”) with revisions by Phil Alden Robinson and Evgenia Peretz.

Judd Apatow said: “I'm thrilled to extend my long collaboration with Jesse to this film. He's a master of bringing complicated characters to life with empathy and humor, and he's just the perfect director to tell Nick Hornby's great story.”

Jeffrey Soros and Simon Horsman of LAMF said in a joint statement: “We are very excited to have Jesse on board as the director of Juliet, Naked. Jesse’s background as a musician and his command of character-driven comedy are ideal for this wonderful project.”

About LAMF

LAMF was launched in September 2014 by Soros and Horsman with a mandate to finance and produce an eclectic slate of highly commercial pictures with individual budgets of up to $50 million. LAMF is in post-production on two pictures co-financed and co-produced with STX Entertainment: the Young Adult / Sci-Fi romance, The Space Between Us (starring Gary Oldman, Asa Butterfield, Carla Gugino, and Britt Robertson), which has a release date of August 19, and the supernatural horror pic, The Bye Bye Man, which has a release date of December 9. LAMF is also in post-production on the Jim Carrey-starring thriller, True Crimes, financed by LAMF and co-produced with RatPac Entertainment and David Gerson. A number of other films in a variety of genres will be announced by LAMF in the coming months.

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure...
