JESSE PERETZ ON BOARD TO DIRECT “JULIET, NAKED”
Jesse Peretz (“Girls”, “Our Idiot Brother”) has come on board to direct the film “Juliet, Naked”, based on the best-selling novel by Nick Hornby (“About a Boy”, “High Fidelity”, “Brooklyn”).
Juliet, Naked is the story of Annie, the long-suffering girlfriend of Duncan, and her unlikely transatlantic romance with once revered, now faded, singer-songwriter, Tucker Crowe, who also happens to be the subject of Duncan’s musical obsession.
Los Angeles Media Fund (LAMF) is financing the picture. Judd Apatow (“Trainwreck”, “Knocked Up”), Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa (“Little Miss Sunshine”, “Nebraska”), Barry Mendel (“Bridesmaids”, “The Royal Tenenbaums”), and Jeffrey Soros are producing. Simon Horsman is an executive producer.
The script was written by Tamara Jenkins (“The Savages”, “Slums of Beverly Hills”) and Jim Taylor (“Sideways”, “About Schmidt”) with revisions by Phil Alden Robinson and Evgenia Peretz.
Judd Apatow said: “I'm thrilled to extend my long collaboration with Jesse to this film. He's a master of bringing complicated characters to life with empathy and humor, and he's just the perfect director to tell Nick Hornby's great story.”
Jeffrey Soros and Simon Horsman of LAMF said in a joint statement: “We are very excited to have Jesse on board as the director of Juliet, Naked. Jesse’s background as a musician and his command of character-driven comedy are ideal for this wonderful project.”
