BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

And The Best Film Score of 2016 Goes To...

It wasn't easy, but we've managed to provide you our top 5 film scores of 2016. Review by Matt Cummings It's not easy to find websites which love soundtrack scores as much as the films themselves, but we at SJF think the entire film must be considered when judging its value. Central to any movie's success is its use of music, and 2016 gifted us with potentially the best year we've ever heard. From television to movies and even video games, we witnessed an onslaught that began in January and didn't let up until 12/31. But as with all things, the bill must come due which means taking a moment to remember the top scores of the year. It wasn't easy, but we've managed to fashion together a list that covers all forms of entertainment, something we frankly couldn't have done in previous years. Our immense thanks goes out to The Krakower Group for securing us with these scores. Without delay, here are our top film scores of 2016: X-Men Apoca...

Soundtrack Review: #TheFlash Season 2

The Flash: Original Television Soundtrack Season 2 speeds to thrilling musical pulse. Review by Matt Cummings Season 2 of CW's The Flash was almost as good as the first, expanding the DC universe with new and thrilling villains to contest Flash (played by the great Grant Gustin). And just like its lead, Composer Blake Neely speeds the series' score to new and darker heights, confirming what we already knew: this guy can make music. As he moves on from the defeat of the evil Reverse Flash, Barry Allen (Gustin) is attempting to piece back together his shattered family which includes the release of his father (John Wesley Shipp) from prison. But trouble is on the horizon, as the dangerous Zoom unleashes an army of baddies from an alternate universe where he rules supreme. Faced with the reality that he cannot defeat Zoom alone, Barry cobbles together allies from an alternate universe called Earth 2, which include the kinder, gentler Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) a...

#MarvelCollectorCorps Review: December 2016

Marvel Collector Corps ends 2016 on a high note with their very good X-MEN box. Review by Matt Cummings It's been an interesting first year for Funko's Marvel Collector Corps. Having experienced a terrific opening, the subscription box service descended into chaos with its disastrous Marvel STUPOR BOX and August's less-than-awesome SPIDER-MAN. With October's DOCTOR STRANGE, we witnessed the uneven nature of what these boxes have become, displaying Funko's best and worst faces and making us wonder if our money would be better spent someplace else. As the final box of the year arrives in X-MEN, we see all the splendor of what a great box can deliver, even though we've been able to read between the lines of Funko's message. The Promise Before we begin, let's look at the original deal and MCC's current offering: promising a value of $50, regular boxes would keep the "fluff" (their words) to a minimum with Funko partnering ea...

Ryan Gosling Will Play Neil Armstrong In Chazelle's biopic First Man

Spotlight co-writer Josh Singer penned the adaptation from James Hansen's book First Man: The Life Of Neil Armstrong . Armstrong was, of course, the first man to walk on the surface of the moon. First Man chronicles his time as a Navy bomber flyer and then test pilot, where he pushed planes to the limit and beyond. In the 1960s, he was recruited to work for NASA, rising up the ranks and ending up leading 1969’s Apollo 11 mission to the moon. Chazelle has been attached to the film since just after Whiplash, and Gosling has always been his first choice for the role. Gosling was first mentioned in connection with it in November, 2015, but various other commitments – such as the small matter of Blade Runner 2049 – were in the way. Decks now clear, however, all the deals are signed, and the film is finally on the launching pad Please Leave A Comment- Source- Empire

Top 10 Movies of 2016

2016's top films feature a diversity of genres, but was the industry better off as a result? Story by Matt Cummings I think it's safe to say that 2016 was one of the worst years in recent memory: shootings, rising tensions abroad, and (another) highly-divisive election was book-ended by high-profile deaths that began their march in January (David Bowie), ripped through the Summer (Prince), and ended with an awful December (George Michael, Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds). Similarly, we saw a movie industry plagued with more than a dozen high-profile failures and outright disappointments ( Independence Day: Resurgence, Alice Through the Looking Glass, Norm of the North, The Fifth Wave among many, many others). But, a few films did rise to the top, punctuated by stellar performances, incredible action sequences, smart comedy, and beautiful musical moments. As always, our list is generated on factors such as memorability, quality, and a completely selfish desire of whet...
