By Brandon Wolfe While the film version of Stephen King’s It may have recently fallen apart, the adaptation of the author’s apocalyptic magnum opus The Stand is still going strong. The Fault in Our Stars ’ Josh Boone is still set to direct the adaptation, which he has said in the past he wanted to make into several films to do proper justice to the unusually lengthy novel. However, the plan has changed, as it has now been reported that The Stand will be adapted into an eight-episode miniseries for Showtime, which will then culminate in a theatrical film. Stephen King fans might feel a sense of déjà vu here, as this was initially the plan for the proposed adaptation of the author’s Dark Tower series before that project fell apart.
