By Brandon Wolfe The Farrelly Brothers’ 2012 decade-in-the-making passion project The Three Stooges , a contemporary updating of the misadventures of nitwits Larry, Moe and Curly, didn’t exactly set the world on fire. It turned a very modest profit, and contained an uncanny performance by Chris Diamantopoulos as Moe, but didn’t inspire much enthusiasm otherwise. Still, it’s a recognizable brand name, and in this day and age that means it must be plundered and strip-mined as is customary for anything from the past that people have heard of. Ergo, we are now getting a Stooges sequel, with Diamantopoulos, Sean Hayes and Will Sasso reprising their roles. The returning cast will be joined by “a major action star.” Because it’s a sequel to a movie that he wasn’t in, let’s put some money on The Rock.
