Deadline is reporting Isla Fisher has just been set for Nocturnal Animals, the Tom Ford-directed drama. She joins Jake Gyllenhaal, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kim Basinger, Armie Hammer and Aaron Taylor Johnson. Focus Features landed worldwide rights to the film for $20 million, one of the highest-profile deals ever done at Cannes.
Production begins shortly. Ford, who wrote the script based on the Austin Wright novel Tony And Susan, is producing with his A Single Man producing partner Robert Salerno.
Adams plays Susan Morrow, who, out of the blue, receives a package containing the manuscript of her ex-husband’s first novel. As she reads, she is drawn into the fictional life of Tony Hastings (Gyllenhaal). As his ordinary life is violently set off course, Susan is forced to confront her own past. Fisher will play Laura Hastings, Tony’s wife, who travels with him and is in the car during an altercation he has that puts their family in danger.
