BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Will Krang Make An Appearance In #TMNT2

Sources Says The Villain Lineup Includes Krang

Jonathan Liebesman is unapologetic for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie he released upon the world a year ago. Well the original was not a total flop, it is estimated the movie made less than $65 million domestically in gross profit. Despite the mediocre performance a sequel was greenlit almost immediately.

Confirmed for appearances in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 are April O’Neil (Megan Fox), Casey Jones (Stephen Amell), Baxter Stockman (Tyler Perry), and the Shredder (Brian Tee). Also confirmed for the movie are the updated Shredder henchmen, and fan favorite bad-guys, Bepop and Rocksteady.

In the latest from Cinema Blend - a source involved in production for the movie claims another supervillain known as Krang has been added to the mix. Paramount Pictures has not confirmed or denied the latest information regarding the new villain. Interestingly, Paramount Pictures did request concept art revealing the updated characters of Bepop, Rocksteady, and Krang be removed from the internet. This attempt to cover up concept art of characters for the new movie lends credence to the latest news about Krang.

For those who are not up on the latest in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles lore, there is a history behind the character of Krang. Usually appearing in the cartoon series or comic books in plots alongside the Shredder, Krang is considered a warlord from Dimension X. In some versions he was originally from Earth but was banished to Dimension X after having his brain removed as punishment. In a rage he eventually returns to Earth to seek revenge. In other versions it is theorized he is actually part of the Utrom race - disembodied brain like creatures that operate out of another planet in the Milky Way Galaxy.

In most adaptations Krang strikes a deal with Shredder to utilize the Technodrome -a giant flying battle fortress - to defeat the turtles and take over Earth. In return for Krang’s assistance Shredder builds him a robotic exoskeleton suit to allow him mobility. Whether Krang is a mad interdimensional alien warlord or an exiled disembodied human brain returning for vengeance, his appearance in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 means Shredder might be taking a backseat this time around.

It is not yet known if Krang will be the main focus of the movie or play a more Thanos-like-role to set up future movies in the franchise. Given the interpretation of the Shredder in the original reboot it might be a fresh breath for both fans and Paramount Pictures to place the focus on a new and popular villain from the franchise for the next installment of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

It will be interesting to see a live-action version of Krang. If my memory serves, in the cartoons he was always kind of a silly villain. Seeing a dark badass version like the new Bepop and Rocksteady will be exciting!

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure...
