New Commander in Chief to deliver rousing speeches.
By Brandon Wolfe
Those of you ID4 fans who were expecting Bill Pullman to have been made President for life had better brace yourselves because there will be a new face in the Oval Office for the sequel. ‘90s relic Sela Ward will play President Lanford in the sequel to ‘90s relic Independence Day. Ward has previously worked with director Roland Emmerich in 2004’s The Day After Tomorrow.
Ward will join returning ID4 vets Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman and Vivica A. Fox (but, again, no Will Smith), as well as newcomers Liam Hemsworth and Charlotte Gainsbourg. The film will go into production this month for a slightly-too-early release on June 24, 2016.
