Supervillain will break up the grudge match.
By Brandon Wolfe
Perhaps ultimately acting as the thing that gets Batman and Superman to stop pounding on each other and forge an alliance, it has been reported that the archvillain Doomsday will be appearing in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. El Mayimbe revealed on the Shanlian On Batman podcast that the famous adversary will function in the film much as Darth Vader did in relation to Grand Moff Tarkin in the original Star Wars, as the “muscle” to Lex Luthor’s brains (which seems like a flawed analogy, as I never really thought of Vader as purely a henchman of Tarkin’s).
In the comics, Doomsday was created as the perfect weapon. Abandoned to live in the inhospitable environs of prehistoric Krypton, the creature eventually amassed enough power to escape his confines, eventually arriving on Earth, where he fought, and killed, Superman. While Superman’s death doesn’t seem likely in the upcoming film, Doomsday’s presence will almost certainly continue to play a major role in the subsequent Justice League films.
