BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

iZombie S01E05 Recap: Flight of the Living Dead

Who knew hot sauce was the way to a zombie’s heart?

Story by @ErikaAshley

A group of daredevils jump out of a plane skydiving resulting in one jumper impaled on a tree. Liv and Ravi are forced to wait for rescuers to retrieve the body for bagging when Liv gets a call from her roommate and best friend, Peyton, informing her of an accident with their sorority sister, Holly. Who coincidently turns out to be the girl impaled on the tree. A member from the skydiving group confronts them upset that a new member to their group messed up the jump by having Holly jump out of the plane second to last instead of last and then started to act strange. Liv and the stranger make bizarre eye contact as the situation escalates as he swears her death was not an accident.

Major visits Clive at the precinct and asks about his missing friend Jerome since he hasn’t seen him for almost a week. Clive tries to explain that there isn’t much he can do because he’s not in the missing person’s department. Major gets agitated at the lack of assistance he’s been getting from authorities and Clive advises he not do anything stupid as Major leaves abruptly. Back at the morgue Liv preps Holly’s body while reflecting on their friendship. Ravi insists she doesn’t have to consume Holly’s brains to solve the mystery, but Liv reassures him it’ll be fine.

Later that evening as Liv and Peyton reflect on their friendship with Holly over wine and Facebook. While watching Holly’s most recent video Liv has a flashback from her memory showing Lowell freaking out in the plane just as they are about to jump out. The next morning Liv seeks assistance from Clive and he initially refuses since Holly’s death was deemed an accident but Liv pushes harder. Clive reluctantly agrees to look into Lowell Tracy as a suspect but warns her that it could be nothing. She reminds him of the video footage from the jumper’s helmets. Overtaken by Holly’s adventurous character Liv takes a shortcut bike ride through the city.

Clive pulls Lowell into questioning and he and Liv begins to berate him with inquisitions. Lowell admits to being scared about jumping from the plane and having landed away from the target site. He insists they watch the footage from his helmet-cam and Clive goes to check on the videos. When he leaves Liv sits and continues to question Lowell about the night before and the day of the jump. Lowell tries switching the questions to Liv and tries flirting with her just as Clive returns with the bad news that the footage was erased. He asks as to why the videos would have been destroyed and Lowell sits looking stunned. As they leave the questioning room Clive is intrigued since Lowell is withholding information. He brings in the rest of the skydiving group for questioning. One of the girls, Eliza, admits to erasing the footage to protect their business and spare Holly’s family the horror. Carson, Holly’s love interest and boyfriend to Eliza, swears to not sleeping with her for at least six weeks but just then Liv has another flashback. She sees Carson begging Holly not to tell while one of the skydiving members, Ren Smith, lays asleep in Carson’s bed.

Liv has another biking session through the city enjoying her time with Holly’s carefree view on life. Back at the precinct Clive gets scolded by his boss for working on a case that shouldn’t exist. Just then Liv comes rushing to give Clive the news that the tox-screening from Holly’s autopsy report came back with GHB in her system. Meaning she would have been rendered useless after only a few minutes of ingesting the drug and unable to open her parachute. Clive’s boss agrees to let them continue the case since it then fits the classification of a homicide and Clive looks relieved.

That night Liv attends Holly’s memorial at Carson’s house. The skydiving group confronts Liv as to why she’s there and asks her to leave but she insists on staying since she is a friend of Holly’s. At the precinct Clive remembers Major’s missing friend Jerome and decides to take a look into his missing status. At the party Liv snoops through Carson’s room and comes across a black prescription pad in his nightstand drawer. She has a flashback to Carson handing out sheets to the skydiving group the night before as gifts. Liv calls Ravi and asks that he look into local pharmacies’ filled by the doctor that signed the slips. As she hangs up with Ravi, Lowell finds her in Carson’s room and asks to make her a drink. They retreat to the wet bar in the next room and he makes her a spicy Bloody Mary as he divulges details about the group and what happened that day during the jump. Liv tells him that by giving her information it doesn’t make him less guilty but he insists he’s trying to get on her good side so he can get a date with her. She takes a sip and is surprised by the spice but he admits to her that he’s a zombie too. Liv stands speechless.

She asks him how he knew about her. He admits it wasn’t difficult and told her about what happened on the plane. Major interrupts their conversation and Liv walks him out to his car. Major cries on her shoulder because he’s worried about Jerome and Liv stays hopeful that he’ll turn up soon somewhere. He apologizes for breaking up the moment she was having with Lowell but she reassures him nothing was going on. Clive heads to the skate park where Jerome was last seen and runs into a kid he knows. He asks for information about Jerome but the kid tells him lots of people have gone missing in the area. He takes Clive to a wall plastered with missing person’s signs and Clive looks concerned.

Back at the morgue Liv tells Ravi about meeting another zombie and he’s excited at the notion suggesting she bring him in for testing. She starts to act awkwardly and smitten. Ravi asks what she’ll do if her love interests comes up the murderer but she denies his inclusion saying she has a good feeling about him. Ravi’s research turns up Carson as the person who requested the prescription for GHB. At the precinct Clive and Liv pull Carson in for further questioning. He denies the prescription and insists it was Eliza. He wasn’t trying to cover up his relationship with Ren instead he admits to be included on an email between Eliza and his sponsoring company, Max Rager, saying their product results in people going crazy. When he showed the email to Holly she begged him to go to the press but he refused. Instead Eliza found out that Holly knew about the email’s content and the info about the company. As a result she must have drugged Holly before the jump. Clive and backup break into Holly’s apartment but she had just left.

Clive fills his boss, Lieutenant Suzuki, in on the progress of the case and he congratulates him on the successful investigation. When Clive tells him about the missing person’s from the skate park Suzuki gets defensive and demands he leave it alone because it’s outside their responsibility. Clive apologizes reluctantly and as he leaves Suzuki pours hot sauce into his drink mug, proving he too is a zombie. Major heads down to the skate park looking for Jerome but finds a guy wearing Jerome’s shoes. When he confronts the man about the shoes the man beats him up.

While Liv is at the morgue working Lowell shows up with the world’s hottest hot sauce as a gift for her. He tries to sweep her off her feet and does just that but is interrupted when a new victim gets wheeled in. She’s forced but to work as he leaves but they both bashfully say goodbye and for once Liv is hopeful that she might have a life after death after all. This season is beginning to heat up and it’s not because of all the hot sauce. The twists and turns keep the story moving down different alleyways and draws the viewer in even further. Now with so many unanswered questions you are almost forced to keep watching. The iZombie writers are holding us captive and I have to admit I’m enjoying it.

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure...
