Story by Matt Cummings
Netflix has turned the rather dull and predictable DVD rental market into something truly unique: ill-content with being a media middle-man, offering DVD's and even streaming movies of other studios' products, they embarked on a bold plan to create their own content. The plan paid off: from House of Cards to the new Daredevil series, the online service has made a name for itself, snagging Emmys along the way. But it's also clear that Netflix is ready to move into more mainstream titles, and it's doing that with Full House.
On Monday, John Stamos, who played Uncle Jesse in the sitcom, shared that Full House will return to television for a 13-episode sequel, beginning sometime in 2016. Titled Fuller House, the reunion will focus on Veterinarian D.J. Tanner (Candace Cameron Bure), who has been recently widowed and is also pregnant. Several familar faces like the sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) Tanner's childhood best friend Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber), and Gibble's problematic teenage daughter Ramona move with D.J. to help raise her two sons and soon-to-arrive baby.
Stamos will return to guest star and produce the show; discussions is set to produce the show and reprise his role as a guest star. Discussions with original stars Bob Saget, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Lori Loughlin, and Dave Coulier haven't been finalized.
Full House aired on ABC from 1987 to 1995, and focused on Danny Tanner (Saget) and his family attempting to deal with the death of Tanner's wife.
