The Griswolds are now taking a summer vacation.
By Brandon Wolfe
Warner Bros. has shuffled the Griswolds’ latest vacation plans as it has bumped up the release date of the Vacation reboot/sequel from October 9 to July 31. This is perhaps a huge vote of confidence in the film, as its strongest competition in October was the Steve Jobs biopic, whereas now it’s going up against Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation – another film kicked up to summer unexpectedly from a late-year release - which opens the same day (not to mention all the other big summer contenders that will be in theaters around that time). However, the only true comedy competition Vacation will face will come from Trainwreck, which opens two weeks prior and will probably prove less formidable a foe by the time the Griswolds come out of the gate, so maybe this is a shrewd move.
Vacation stars Ed Helms, Leslie Mann, Christina Applegate, Chris Hemsworth, Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo.
