BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

And the Newest Green Lantern Could Be...

Read on to learn who might be donning the Emerald Knight's clothes for Warner Bros.

Story by Matt Cummings

Actor Ryan Reynolds has had one of those careers that's always been filled with promise but whose resume reads like rollercoaster. Waiting, Safe House? Yes. Green Lantern, R.I.P.D., and X-Men Origins: Wolverine? Not so much. But with Deadpool less than a year away for 20th Century Fox, perhaps he's found that role, the one for which audiences will forever identity him. Therefore, it goes without saying that Warner Bros. Studios would be searching for a new leading man to portray The Emerald Knight. It appears that rumor mill has begun to churn, and it seems like a familiar name might be in play.

According to Latino Review's Humberto Gonzalez, it appears that Actor Chris Pine (Star Trek reboots, Into the Woods) is in the running to play Hal Jordan. This is the first time that a name and version of the character have been announced as possible leads for the 2020 film.

This bit of gossip might be seen as a letdown for fans hoping for a John Stewart version of Green Lantern, with people like Tyrese Gibson and Common stating their love for the character and desire to play him. However, it should be noted that Hal Jordan was the Green Lantern portrayed in the original Justice League comics, even though Stewart has become as popular as Jordan by this time. But with the project so far off, it's possible that we could see multiple versions of these comic characters appear in a single film or a follow-up. The GL story is so rich with content that we could see movies every 4 years for the foreseeable future.

Pine is obviously no stranger to fans, with his memorable performances as either James T. Kirk, Jack Ryan in Shadow Recruit, or his hilarious performance in Horrible Bosses 2. And yet, Pine seems to be at the forefront of every film franchise these days; so, this news should be taken with a grain of salt until we hear more solid details, and we should expect to hear more names.

Green Lantern is slated for release on June 19, 2020.

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure...
