MILLENNIUM ENTERTAINMENT BRANDED TO "ALCHEMY"

ALCHEMY, THE NEW BRAND NAME OF THE FORMERLY TITLED MILLENNIUM ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCED TODAY.

Rebrand Encompasses New Direction and Focus of Leading Independent Distributor of Film and Television Content

CEO Bill Lee announced today that Alchemy is the new brand name of the company formerly known as Millennium Entertainment. The rebrand comes five months after a management team led by Lee and private investment firm Virgo Investment Group LLC partnered to acquire the Millennium Entertainment catalog assets and distribution platform from a consortium of investors.

"Our new brand name encapsulates our culture, our ambitious mission, and our dedication as a company to working with leading filmmakers and producers to create and deliver the finest content," said Lee. "Alchemy is a seemingly magical process of creation and transformation through combination. The name embodies our goals of uniting storytellers and their audiences in one dynamic community. We believe that conventional distribution strategies must evolve to achieve this, and we aim to represent the future of screen‐based storytelling—-wherever that screen may be."

Alchemy is a leading independent film and television distributor and content owner. The company boasts the independent industry's pre‐eminent, end‐to‐end supply chain solution for physical and digital distribution of content to major retailers. The company has the largest footprint of any independent supplier to bricks and mortar businesses, and is one of only two independent aggregators for Target, where Alchemy represents 75% of all independent titles sold. Furthermore, it is the leading supplier of independent media content to digital platforms including iTunes, Netflix and VOD.

Alchemy will continue its commitment to developing tailored distribution strategies for its projects across all platforms, from theatrical release to home video, VOD, and television. Its centralized marketing function will further enhance this customized distribution focus by supporting each project's release throughout all windows and under a single team. The company owns a catalog of 665 film titles and has ongoing distribution agreements with clients including PBS Distribution, Classic Media, nCircle, eOne, Magnolia, MPI Home Media, FUNimation, Well Go, Music Box Films, Inception, Gravitas Ventures, and Hammer Horror, among many others.

Alchemy CEO Bill Lee concluded, "We believe that success comes as a result of focusing on storytellers and the community that shares and consumes those stories. Alchemy will continue to partner with leading filmmakers and producers to deliver top-tier content through the platforms best suited for each of its projects."

Prior to today's rebrand, under Bill Lee's direction the company has distributed the work of some of the world's finest filmmakers including Richard Linklater, Werner Herzog, Gregg Araki, Dito Montiel, John Hillcoat, John Turturro, Lee Daniels, Oren Moverman and James Cameron. Recent successes include ELSA & FRED, FADING GIGOLO, WHAT MAISIE KNEW, RAMPART, and BERNIE. Up next Alchemy will release director Barry Levinson's THE HUMBLING starring Al Pacino and Greta Gerwig.

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure...
