The most recent news of Andy Serkis’ take on The Jungle Book, Jungle Book: Origins, was word of the film’s release moving back a year. Jon Favreau’s Disney version is facing no such shifts and has just released both a logo (above) and some new concept art for the film.
With a script by Justin Marks, Favreau’s film will use the blend of computer-generated animals and Neel Sethi in person as Mowgli, the human orphan raised by animals in the jungle to unspool Rudyard Kipling's story. Christopher Walken is set to voice King Louie, ruler of the jungle’s monkeys and apes, while Giancarlo Esposito is Akela, leader of the wolf pack that initially cares for Mowgli.
They join a cast that already includes Ben Kingsley (panther Bagheera), Lupita Nyong’o (wolf mother Rackcha), Bill Murray (bear pal Baloo) Idris Elba (lethal tiger Shere Khan) and Scarlett Johansson (charming, deadly snake Kaa), who have all added their voices to the film ready for its release on October 16 next year.
