Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone will star in the comedy set in the music world while Schaffer and Taccone will co-direct.

The trio behind "Dick in a Box", "Like a Boss" and "I'm on a Boat" will be bringing their comedic and musical talents to the big screen.

Universal has acquired an untitled project with The Lonely Island (comprised of Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone). They will also star in the comedy, which is set in the music world.

Judd Apatow is producing via his Judd Apatow Productions banner, along with Samberg, Schaffer and Taccone. Universal’s senior vp of production Erik Baiers will oversee the project for the studio.
The comedy group The Lonely Island found fame for their work on Saturday Night Live, where Samberg was a cast member and Schaffer and Taccone were writers. Hit skits like "I'm on a Boat" led to the release on an album, Incredibad, in 2009. The trio exited SNL after the 2011 and 2012 seasons. In 2013, they released The Wack Album, which featured some of the biggest names in music including Lady Gaga, Maroon 5's Adam Levine and Justin Timberlake.

Samberg currently stars on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and his recent film credits include That's My Boy and Grown Ups 2. Schaffer directed The Watch the the groups' first film Hot Rod, and appeared in Neighbors and Grown Ups 2. Taccone directed MacGruber and appeared alongside his collaborators in Neighbors and The Watch.
