BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Schwarzenegger's "Maggie" Get's Picked Up By Lionsgate

In a high-profile deal for Arnold Schwarzenegger and Abigail Breslin's zombie film Maggie, Lionsgate has scooped up North American rights to the movie on the eve of the Toronto Film Festival, where the film was set to make its world premiere.

As a result of the preemptive pact, the apocalyptic thriller will no longer make an appearance at the festival since Lionsgate is planning an early 2015 release for the film, directed by Henry Hobson from a Black List script by John Scott 3. (The Governator, who was looking forward to attending a festival, could still have his chance if Maggie makes a bid for Sundance in January).

Maggie follows the story of a Midwestern teenager whose father sticks by her side when she's infected by disease that slowly turns her into a cannibalistic zombie.

The deal for North American rights, brokered by CAA, was announced by Lionsgate co-chief operating officer and motion picture group president Steve Beeks and Lotus co-chairs Bill Johnson and Jim Seibel.

“Maggie has all the ingredients that spell commercial excitement, from a compelling script and an A-llist superstar surrounded by a world-class cast,” said Beeks. “We’re delighted to continue our relationship with Arnold Schwarzenegger, who turns in a performance that marks a dramatic departure from his action persona, and partner with our friends at Lotus Entertainment on a film that will resonate with thriller aficionados everywhere.”

“Lionsgate is a world-renowned brand, and we’re pleased to collaborate with Steve Beeks, Rob Friedman, Patrick Wachsberger and a motion picture team that has established a superb track record with this kind of material,” said Johnson and Seibel. "Maggie takes the zombie genre in exciting new directions, and it offers something for everyone – star power, horror, suspense and riveting performances that will keep moviegoers on the edge of their seats.”

Naked Gun Reboot On It's Way

If you've seen Naked Gun - or The Naked Gun: From The Files Of Police Squad ! to give its full title - you'll know that it's a comedic masterpiece that springboards off astonishing levels of silliness and random spoofery. Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin is a loveable buffoon for the ages, even when he's discussing his dicky prostrate. Do not, however, expect the Ed Helms -starring reboot to adopt exactly the same tack. According to Naked Gun director/co-writer David Zucker, talking up Airplane!'s screening at Nashville's Wild West Comedy Festival, the new version will not attempt to hit the same spoofy sweet spot as the Zuckers and Jim Abrahams' 1988 comedy. "It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did," Zucker revealed. "It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do." One departure...
