HBO’s next documentary, Dangerous Acts Starring the Unstable Elements of Belarus will be premiering on Monday, July 7th at 9:00pm. Comprised of smuggled footage and uncensored interviews, this enlightening documentary gives audiences a front-row seat to the Belarus Free Theater – a performance art resistance movement against Europe’s last remaining dictatorship.
Director Madeleine Sackler goes behind the scenes with the internationally acclaimed underground troupe of courageous performers who refuse to remain silent in a country choked by censorship and repression. After premiering at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival, the must-see film continues to shed light on the liberties often taken for granted – including free speech and right to artistic freedom.

Upcoming Documentaries:
The Newburgh Sting (July 21, 9pm) reveals the FBI’s involvement in the homegrown terror case of the “Newburgh Four”. The film features unsettling FBI hidden camera footage, never before publicly released, and insights from Muslim leaders and high-level Washington insiders, including former FBI assistant director Thomas Fuentes, Congressman Keith Ellison and former FBI undercover agent Mike German, as well as intimate interviews with the families of the Newburgh Four. Offering startling insights into the state of surveillance in a post-9/11 world, the film is directed and produced by the team of Kate Davis and David Heilbroner (HBO’s Emmy®-winning “Jockey”).
Love Child (July 28, 9pm) examines the obsessive culture of online gaming. In 2010, South Korean police were contacted by a couple whose 3-month-old daughter Sarang (“Love” in Korean) had died. Upon further investigation, police learned that the parents, who met online, spent 6 to 12 hours a day in a local Internet café (“PC room”) playing the 3-D fantasy game Prius, leaving their daughter at home alone and hungry. Although Prius’ Korean servers were permanently shut down in December 2013, the debate about online addiction – a global issue – rages on. Valerie Veatch’s Love Child debuted at the 2014 Sundance Festival and was produced by David Foox.
