Despite House Of Cards scoring the bigger initial buzz, Netflix’s other series launched last year, prison comedy drama Orange Is The New Black, won a lot of critical praise for its funny, touching, and progressive characters and plotlines. The show returns to our small screens this year for a second season.

Orange Is The New Black adapts Piper Kerman’s memoir of her time spent in a women’s prison on drug smuggling charges. Taylor Schilling plays Piper, a character loosely based on Kerman, who reports to Litchfield prison to serve her term, worried about what she’ll encounter.
Through the first season, she comes to terms with life inside, meets a variety of fellow inmates and manoeuvres their various, shifting power structures. But even as she learned more about her new world, there were still moments she felt like an outsider. Especially when her ex-girlfriend, Alex (Laura Prepon) showed up on the block…
Orange’s cast includes Kate Mulgrew, Taryn Manning, Emma Myles, Jessica Pimentel, Diane Guerrero, Natasha Lyonne, Pablo Schreiber Uzo Aduba and Jason Biggs, and the show is back on June 6.
