This year’s Super Bowl seems like the perfect launching point for the new, and possibly final, Captain America: The Winter Soldier trailer. Both come wrapped in the Stars and Stripes and both feature a clash between powerful forces. There’s much more at stake in Steve Rogers’ latest adventure, though…
Blending some of what we’ve seen already – the mysterious Winter Soldier, Chris Evans' Cap butting heads with S.H.I.E.L.D. brass including Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury and Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford) – this second full promo goes further, with Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow explaining the legend that has been swirling around the Soldier, and Cap talking about his abilities.
There’s plenty more action here, with Rogers taking on both the Soldier and other enemies – as he explains to Anthony Mackie’s Falcon, the bad guys are anyone who is shooting at them – and all the running, jumping, shield-chucking, Helicarrier-breaking mayhem you might want. And yes, that's Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter/Agent 13 catching our hero's eye in the hallway.
It all adds up The Winter Soldier looking like a massive follow-up to both The First Avenger and the first Avengers, quite an achievement for directors Joe and Anthony Russo (who are reportedly already in talks to return).
