Jupiter Ascending, coming from the typically secretive Wachowskis, but the first trailer is now online.
Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along: her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.
Yes, so it's your average mind twisting stuff from Lana and Andy, then. The trailer is a trippy blend of high space opera, the expected action from the pair and even some fairy tale elements (and what’s with the elfin Tatum ears?) with Tatum and Kunis joined by Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, Tuppence Middleton, Doona Bae, James Darcy and Tim Piggott-Smith.
Could it have jumped on to many of your lists for most anticipated films of 2014? Chances are it could, though it may yet divide audiences the way Cloud Atlas did this year. Jupiter Ascending will be out on July 25.
