You thought the news that we heard on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2012, when Disney purchased LucasFilms was the end of the conversation. Oh no. The talk about the upcoming film will never end until it hits theaters in 2015. We uncovered a part 2 to the interview with George Lucas and LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy. In the interview Kathleen Kennedy and George Lucas discuss the next steps in making new Star Wars movies, including selecting a director and what Lucas' role will be. McG has come aboard to direct Radar Pictures' film based on the Magic Castle , the famed private magic club in Hollywood. The script is being written by Andrew Barrer and Gabe Ferrari; details of the story are being kept under wraps. The project is set up at 20th Century Fox, and Radar's Ted Field and Mike Weber are producing. Several notable venues have been the subject of Hollywood films. Disney turned its Haunted Mansion theme park ride into a 2003 family-oriented comedy thriller starring Eddie Murphy , while Fox has had much more success with its Ben Stiller franchise Night at the Museum , which began with the 2006 film set at the American Museum of Natural History. The Magic Castle sits at 7001 W. Franklin Ave., just west of Highland Avenue, near Grauman's Chinese Theatre and the Dolby Theatre, home of the Academy Awards. Never one to turn away a good chance for sneaky publicity, or indeed to lie to journalists’ faces when asked about plot developments on his upcoming films (*cough* Megatron in Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen *cough*), Michael Bay has now brought the saga of the will-he-won’t-he Mark Wahlberg in Transformers 4 to a close with a resounding, er, yes. After shooting down rumors and then this week making references to “internet chatter” affecting him and “his writer” (Ehren Kruger), Bay revealed on his website that he intends to continue the bromance hatched working with Wahlberg on bodybuilding action comedy Pain And Gain . “Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on Pain And Gain and I’m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his calibre is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers’ legacy,” said Bay. For those not in the know, All You Need Is Kill is based on the critically-acclaimed novel of the same name by Japanese sci-fi author Hiroshi Sakurazaka, which sees its hero Lt. Col. Bill Cage ( Cruise ) forced to fight (and die) over and over again as contact with alien invaders (known as 'Mimics') traps him in a hellish time loop. Man-mountain, gymspiration, walking charm factory and friend to set-visiting journalists Dwayne Johnson was linked back in February with a seemingly perfect role: Hercules . Now, after a few months of negotiation and figuring out his hectic schedule, Johnson has locked in the lead. Brett Ratner will direct the film, which is now being co-produced by Paramount and MGM. The plot will be based on Radical Studios’ Hercules: The Thracian Wars, created by Steve Moore. The story sees the Thracian king* summon Herc and six battle-weary pals, tasking them with getting his army into fighting shape. Lured by the promise of gold and glory, Hercules readily agrees, but soon comes to realise how far he’s fallen from grace and what he might need to do to find some redemption. The long-gestating Monty Python project “ Absolutely Anything ” is moving full steam ahead, with Gemma Arterton confirmed for the project and Benedict Cumberbatch in talks to join the comedy, TheWrap has learned. To be directed by Terry Jones, “Absolutely Anything” will include voiceovers from Monty Python alumni, including Jones, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin and John Cleese. You didn't need to be a prescient Jedi master to predict the minute Disney and Lucasfilm made last week’s big, exciting announcement that the Star Wars galaxy would return to our screens, the rumors about who might be involved would start flying. And fly they have, with word on both Harrison Ford possibly being up for a return to Han Solo’s trousers and our first whisper-of-a-rumor about a director candidate. Entertainment Weekly’s new hire, Geoff Boucher (formerly of the LA Times) has a source saying that Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are all “upbeat” about returning to the franchise that helped launch their careers. While we naturally have to file this one in the soon-to-be-bulging New Star Wars Rumor File, it’s a hopeful sign that we really will see the three original leads passing the torch – or the lightsaber, or the blaster – to new characters. Perhaps this comes from my childhood, when Winnie the Pooh kept me company, or maybe it's the connection we have with our pets that makes us want for them to carry on conversations with us. Disney has made a fortune pulling at these particular heartstrings, bending reality just enough to make us think that our childhood friends, or - in the case of Madagascar - zoo animals could exist in the same world as ours, carrying on complex relationships while sometimes engaging in assorted silly humor for our benefit.
