Considering they beefed up Peter Jackson's The Hobbit into a trilogy halfway through production, it's not hard to believe they'll be cutting it close to finish the first installment before its premiere. But did you know they have only two days of wiggle room?
Jackson has been walking fans through the production process via some intriguing production blogs from the set, and the latest takes us into the home stretch of finalizing the cut before the Nov. 28 New Zealand premiere (New Zealanders get to see it a few weeks before the rest of us).
It's fascinating to see the well-oiled machine Jackson has assembled to crank these things out, but you have to wonder if this level of clinical refinement will scrub away some of the charm of the original Lord of the Rings trilogy.
